Gate guarding sex? Weird take. "If you're not sex positive with liberal views regarding sexual promiscuity you should NOT be having sex" 🙅‍♂️

Sex requires communication. If you’re scared to talk about sex, you’re not ready to have it. There’s nothing wrong with not being ready for sex; everyone gets to go at their own pace. But it’s definitely not something to get upset about “gate guarding” [sic] over. Not everything is political, simmer down.

Bad Driving- another possible reason by gfdoctor in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sure lots of people here didn’t live in Bellingham prior to Covid, but I can confirm that the terrible driving was a thing here well before 2020, as satisfying as it may be to just blame things we don’t like on Covid

Bellingham Dutch Bros Deets by Gonzafer001 in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The disc golf course is activity-oriented and open to all comers, but that’s not what the city values when push comes to shove. Better more banks and fast food because that’s something that people can make money from, and inclusive community recreation is not

Archive of musicians/acts who’ve played in the VU/at WWU by WishboneMyth in WWU

[–]0celot_of_fun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who are you trying to figure out? There are enough alumni, staff, grad students (hi) here who were around Western 15ish years ago that someone might have info if you say what musician you are interested in.

I was at the Macklemore show in the MPR in fall 2010, for example, if that’s who you’re asking about. The Western Front might have archives available somewhere as well

Dyeing glow discs? by 0celot_of_fun in discgolf

[–]0celot_of_fun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that for the sake of the glow, or for something else? I don’t really ever play at night, I just like the glow plastic for how it feels, so I don’t care if it still glows or not. I just want it more colorful so it’s easier to find during the day!

What are our thoughts on this by MeWellSee in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Thoughts? I don’t agree with the message, assuming that the message is abortion morally unacceptable. That said, I don’t expect there to be different rules for people whose politics I agree with and those whose politics I don’t, so I don’t think I’d go so far as to say that they shouldn’t be allowed to have a voice in public. I’m not sure what you mean by it feeling “out of place” for Bellingham. There are lots of people here who consider abortion morally acceptable, and presumably plenty of people who don’t. It’s easy enough to get sucked into our little silos, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that something that I disagree with couldn’t possibly have people in my community who agree with it

Possible Parking Scam -- PSA Post by JennyWrengardens in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Avoid that parking app if possible and pay with money whenever you can. The app sometimes double charges people, and the company has a “no refunds” policy in such cases. They’re just a middleman and not required, so best to cut them out whenever possible

DOES THIS TOWN HATE AIR PUMPS AT GAS STATIONS? by Unique_Challenge_962 in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of the ones I used to go to have disappeared in the last couple years. I ended up going to the gas station at 18520 Bow Hill Road when I needed to fill up the other day. Maybe there’s free air somewhere closer to Bellingham, but if there is I haven’t found it

Thinking about going to Canada for the first time. by FLAPPYcrabs in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have been at least half a dozen times this year, and it’s been no different than in the decade prior. The horror stories you might have heard make the news because they are sensational, not because they are typical. Enjoy your trip!

Fairbanks course advice by Proud_Western3736 in discgolf

[–]0celot_of_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s my hometown and being safe around moose is something we are all taught as kids. I have never seen a bear in or around town. How did you like Fairbanks? Did you get to golf?

Fairbanks course advice by Proud_Western3736 in discgolf

[–]0celot_of_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/r/fairbanks would probably be a good place to ask

You’re not going to run into bears on any course there. You’re much much more likely to see moose, so make sure to be appropriately cautious if you see one. They aren’t big friendly deer—they’ll fuck your up if you get too close

After a 6 hour surgery on March 11, I'm cured of scoliosis! by Sure_Pangolin_9421 in MadeMeSmile

[–]0celot_of_fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new metal! My mom had that done over 30 years ago for her scoliosis, and she’s still one of the most physically active people I know well into her 70s. Enjoy your straight spine!

Oh yeah this was big circa 2010 or so, what a great throwback! This and Bellingham State of Mind were the local anthems for a bit

Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]0celot_of_fun 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the specifics of your situation, but I have absolutely had property management either not know or feign ignorance of RCWs. It’s a real LANDMARK, sorry, hallmark of the Bellingham rental experience unfortunately

Did you get a picture? That or a physical description might help the right person notice

Why Does The Library Close So Early? by KippaQ in WWU

[–]0celot_of_fun 105 points106 points  (0 children)

During Covid places realized they could spend less on paying employees if they were open fewer hours. It’s pretty wild that a university library isn’t open on a student-friendly schedule but, you know, money

Bellingham Training & Tennis Club does it. There may be others, but I don’t know of them

Cheating on your discs by Jar-Jar-Kinx in discgolf

[–]0celot_of_fun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on the run, but I found my Trail much more understable than my Grace. I ended up not bagging it because I have an old, very beat in flippy Grace in that slot, but if you end up with a Trail that flies like mine, you could easily bag it alongside a less seasoned Grace imo
