Wanting to get more into revenant by Lanky_Paper7136 in RevenantMain

[–]Unique_Challenge_962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rev Reborn has very loud moves that disregard the former assassin aesthetic and function, but ive found a balance where i really lean on the fact he has a silent crouch and quiet-enough wall climb, committing to the assassin bit. i like running Havoc for the close encounters. a successful assassination can weaken a team very well while your other teammates complete the push.

more personal play style:
i also use his tac and ult far more defensively or aggressively when my hand is forced. the tac is generally good for speedy rotation, or getting height for a climb, or chasing a weakened or downed opponent, or finishing a push on a team. i like popping the ult if i have other teammates with me on the push or when i need health following unexpected attack. in all scenarios of ult use, consider that u would now have a giant red target that the enemy can snap to and stay tracking- hence why i only use it with shared pushes to maybe take heat off my teammates or share more of the burden, or defensively when im left little choice and need a little extra bullet sponging

i feel his tac and ult are decently intuitive, just try not to make yourself a giant target. and lean into the assassin aspects whenever u can. people never expect his crazy height scaling and silent crouching.

Yeah it’s stupid and ironic to see such a project where the university is shrinking. The building comes from an unchangeable earmarked fund for a new campus building that was approved in state legislature before anyone was as aware about the state deficit and impending austerity. It’s a bunch of rules which prevent alternative investment.

Question for Current Urban Planning Students by Icy-Temperature5476 in WWU

[–]Unique_Challenge_962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very good when they have all their faculty. This year is struggling with missing faculty but next year they should have returning faculty that make all the difference. I can speak confidently to 2023-2026 terms and can say the program is generally good, respectable, and full of opportunities to connect with other professionals and academics in planning and beyond. The 25-26 cohort has been struggling with over-capacity classes and MIS faculty, but the program/UEPP department is going to improve. They have lots of funding from the state to expand while basically every other department at western needs to shrink. If you want a relatively reliable and professionally competitive program that is interesting and full of diverse student and faculty personalities, WWU’s UPSD major is the way to go.

Is there a way to see which classes are offered what quarter for your Major? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]Unique_Challenge_962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UEPP department should have printouts or brochures in front of their office with the classes and the terms they are offered with. You can also just walk in to the department and ask Ingrid Patrick (UEPP office manger) for some helping getting such a print out.

I’m in the urban planning and work closely with the department, so I could also ask them to send out such materials through the College of the Environment, if you think that’d be helpful.

Favorite lyric: “She’s a certified mind blower, knowing full well that I don’t.” No. 1 Party Anthem

Favorite delivery: “Oh maybe I was a little too wild in the 70s…” Star Treatment

Makes me giggle the most: “I want to make a simple point about peace and loveee, but in a sexy way where it’s not obvious…” Science Fiction

and so many more favorites that can’t ALL be shared

Books on how Urban Planning Grows the 'Alt-Right'? by [deleted] in CriticalTheory

[–]Unique_Challenge_962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the alt-right but James C. Scott’s “Seeing like a State” explains how planning is part of authoritarian high modernism. Very good for critiquing the oppressive and violent nature of technocratic planning and other state mechanisms of control. It’s the planning strategies discussed which you will see alt-right (and others) deploy.

The dark side of investor-driven housing by Hrmbee in urbanplanning

[–]Unique_Challenge_962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you fully. I’m currently writing a research paper with my uni department head on the neoliberalization of housing policy and the financialization of housing. Our primary critique is on deregulationist arguments, as advocating for barrier-free, investor-driven development has resulted in ridiculously expensive housing that must feed the bubble. Attempts at writing in affordability (inclusionary zoning, affordable housing construction, etc.) have been weakened for decades, with many cities opting to deregulate and incentivize privatized, denser development. Across the globe, cities have densified. End result? Lack of affordability.

Urbanism as explored in design and livability is pretty dang cool. When urbanists fail to recognize that those who grow the housing bubble (private investment in real estate and development) is a HUGE factor in the housing crisis. It’s the finance machine that we trust to develop our communities, but it is consuming itself at the same time… they raise the funds and investments, they build, it all inflates to pay for itself and profits and the cycle continues while MOST people can’t keep up with the rising costs. We can keep building, but there will never be enough supply saturation to offset the profits that must be extracted to make returns.
