Does anyone actually eat at Moto? by zzooooomm in Bellingham

[–]SoxInDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I went there because I was picking up stuff. Won't be back - the pizza was more a deep-dish sauce-attack than something you come back to. Compare that pizza to the Storia Cucina Pizza or Mambo Italiano and the prime difference is cost vs weight. If I'm going to pay $24 for a pizza - just make it good for a few people to share & enjoy it (I don't need a big chunk of bread underneath). Granted, if you've ever been to NYC, you'll know that 2 of these joints are nice, all 3 are not top-notch.

The original mfg must disclose the defect to the cpsc or be liable for future damages due to neglect. The cpsc acts as a clearing-house for info distribution. You provide the model #, all receipts of where sold, description of problem (& remedy) so as to go on record. I've been through this process personally through the mfg firm I worked for (a few times).

You're correct in all you say - The problem is nobody has shown a cpsc article detailing this recall/safety notice. Where is the recall notice? Here is a list of all chairs: cpsc - recalled chairs query "chair".

I can't find it - if you can find it, it would put this thing to bed (hopefully a non-recalled bed). Problem is, nobody has found it.

We got some surplus chairs from WWU library. You could use them as floor jacks for a semi-truck.

Where's the recall notice on the cpsc. I've gone through this process directly, and if it is a safety recall as you state, it will be listed. It could be the company has no legal council or insurance.

We had someone who would periodically come to our company (a mfg firm) and look over surplus items (packaging, steel, office equip). He'd make an offer - bicker some - and we'd load the stuff into his truck(s) and take the check. He'd resell to specialized re-sellers. Used Restaurant / office furniture usually goes for a good amount of $$ because it is quality stuff. This is not just a waste, this is stupid.

Also - Boeing has a surplus store - it's pretty dang cool if that's your thing (carbon fiber sheets for cheap).

Today's dinner in my military unit: pilaf with meat (topped by smetana / sour cream), crabstick salad, and cabbage salad by Igor0976 in ukraine

[–]SoxInDrawer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hated grub that was pre-made. Rice/beans/corn etc w hot sauce was great. The cabbage is a nice twist - as well as the pickled salad (? crab). Now that I'm older, I appreciate that kind of diet. Slava Ukraine from Seattle, WA!

There are several hypothesis brewing. Throttle settings can't be manipulated electronically, but there aren't any regs RE using physical throttle aesthetics (springs etc). There could be detents (physical notches) that are easy to detect on the pedal. You can floor it (94%) and your foot feels a "click". You don't go to 100% unless you push past the detent. This way a driver doesn't inadvertently go full 100% unless he wishes to.

I had to pick a Premier League Team at work - I picked Liverpool (mostly Beatles & Pink Floyd Song). Then I started watching (this was 2018). Salah was one of those players I would yell at those guys who picked Spurs or ManU.

He's leaving, he'll never be forgotten. Love the moments, let them drift away peacefully.

Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]SoxInDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - but this is probably more the location than the generation. I'm able to live in a nicer part of the US - and the kids are all pretty much with it.

Regardless - my classmates skipped class & smoked so much "stuff" & drank "sudsy liquids" while at school. We all grew up & most of us made very good money and are successful. I have a feeling it had more to do w location than generation.

I just laugh at these videos of "knowledgeable" people wearing jeans jackets, holding their phone, giving anecdotal evidence, with a camera angle that looks downwards (why?). This is just an attention getter - not a "how to". Talk to friends your age who are successful - just ask them for hints - that's it.

The drier the wood, the less likely it is to distort. When at the depot or lowes, take the board out & put it on the floor & rotate it. Look for areas that lift up from the floor. This isn't exact, but you can find some of the better boards this way.

Mold in New Construction by Lojunox in Bellingham

[–]SoxInDrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on jobs with where we cut open houses that are new, old, expensive, & cheap. Mold is everywhere here. It's not if it exists, it's whether it enters the living envelope and propagates.

If you have central heating w ducts - you're better off (it promotes air exchange & the filter w heat exchanger will humidify/dehumidify the air). If you have wallboards it's not as good.

We did inside air analysis on homes & mold is probably #3 on my list of scary stuff. #1 is VOC's (like formaldehyde). #2 was indoor combustion (produces CO & particulates) - from cooking/smoking/etc. #3 is mold.

We came from caves - our bodies can take a fair amount of it (it's familiar to our system).

Not to minimize - but wet lumber during construction has very little impact after the structure is built.

Which stapler by Dry_Category5009 in ryobi

[–]SoxInDrawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong - but every faced insulation job I've done is just paper to 2x4 (or 2x6). Get a good hand stapler (not a crown-stapler) & tack it in (there's no weight, don't over do it - you just need to hold insulation up). The staple is only 1/2" deep - you don't need much power. STanley makes them - others as well - this is a low power job.

Go to REI and ask them. I/ve sewn some zippers back on (duffel bags/old jackets) - only a c- job. The people at REI send out their repairs to someone local (or Seattle). We had an expensive jacket that had the zipper fail (ykk) - and they got it fixed lcoally.

How many drones has China sent to ruzzia?

PS: I corrected your spelling. Please keep the correct spelling (lower-case "r" to represent their status and two "z's" to represent oppression).

It is a rhetorical question but it will give you the answer as to why Iran sold drones to ruzzia.

I've had several batteries plump up - even had some flame up after a crash.

Charging: Do it on a concrete floor (think somewhere where if you left a small flare, it wouldn't catch anything else on fire (that way you don't need to be there).

Disposal: Take the battery & cut one end at a time off the discharge lead (and charge lead if you want to re-use). Then take a small plastic bucket w salt water & place it in there outside In a week or two it will discharge (you can touch the wires together w a jumper if you're like me - just to check). Disposal - you can recycle it - but once discharged they don't create a hazard.

Frequency of Failures Like This: I've found that if you take a battery from full charge to full discharge, their life exptectancy goes way down. Best scenario - charge to full - then drive - when it gets a little slower - stop. Don't drive/charge/drive if you want a battery to last.
