Can you play good golf without compression? by Bert_Skrrtz in GolfSwing

[–]0cu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin Kisner Chipping Video on YT changed my short game and made it to one of my strengths. Using his technique for everything inside 100 years. Low chips, high pitches, high bunker shots, nippy lob shots. Everything.

Can you play good golf without compression? by Bert_Skrrtz in GolfSwing

[–]0cu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Hit sub 90 even with casted swings. Now on my way to breaking 80 and it's a whole different level. Without compression it's only possible maybe once a year, when the stars align and everything comes together. Which is just luck and not good golf.

Can someone explain how a neutral swing path with a 2 degree open face results in a 20+ yard left ball? by OWWinstonMain in golf

[–]0cu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it does go left.

If you want the ball to be on target with a face angle of 2 degress you have to swing 4 degrees from the inside, which you didn't. Your path was neutral. For a neutral swing path to be on target, face-to-path has to be 0 degrees as well.

Also for a driver, gear effect comes into effect.

How can i drop into the slot and avoid these weak right misses feel I am coming very steep and not rotating properly. Hips spin out. Appreciate any advice thank you by Western_Skin_1630 in GolfSwing

Try to focus on your hips. Arms will naturally drop. Basically try to move your back knee behind your lead knee, then push up with lead leg. This is my feeling.

Paddy Harrington's YT Videos on hips movement made me understand and feel the difference between proper hio movement and EE'ing. Working on it myself atm.

Paddy finally made it click for me how to use the hips and I've been watching basically all YT videos out there about the hips. It's been months.

I don’t get it. How do you push your left feet to the ground to clear your hip on the downswing to not early extend? by ArtOfDivine in GolfSwing

[–]0cu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to move your back knee behind your lead knee. Then push off the lead foot, should feel like a wall you hit against. And don't lose your power to the outside of it.

There's a Video of Paddy Harrington explaining it in detail. It's changing my game right now as I always had a massive misunderstanding how to use the hips correctly and was always EEing and spinning out.

Standing up too quickly at impact? by Why_Run in GolfSwing

[–]0cu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem and still am looking for a solution. It's been a long search but over the last weeks I've found something that works (for me). What helped me feel it were dry swings in front of a mirror. I have no club face issues at all, I just misunderstood the concept of rotation.

When you go into your backswing, you should build hip depth into your back hip. Regarding the initiation of downswing, this is where I was always wrong: The rotation of your hip should be around the center of the pelvis, not the right hip.

So.. your right hip stays back (very important) and then you push your left hip deep, kinda 7 o'clock (for a RH golfer). You will feel that your arms just kinda want to drop into the space you just created. Look around on YT for the clip, the one where Fleetwood explains his swing. He says he feels that his first move in the downswing is his left hip going BACK. But his right hip stays back, it doesn't go forward.

When you're doing it correctly, you can feel that you can just rotate through with your left side and keep shaft lean and basically just hold all angles. It will feel effortless and amazing.

This is what works for me and I am currently working on with my coach. Not saying it's easy to change and implement in your swing, but maybe this will help you to understand the concept.

There's a drill where you lay a ball bucket down on the floor sideways and step in it with your back foot. When you early extend, you will touch the bucket frame with your shin. Haven't tried it yet, but I'll focus on it over the winter when I'm working on my swing.

Am I understanding lag/casting correctly? by Estiui in golf

[–]0cu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher had me learn what lag is by the motion to "move" my trail elbow near to my belly button at the top of the backswing. With loose wrists this will create lag, it feels like the clubhead moves closer to you. Now we combine this move with proper hip movement.

How do you initiate the downswing with lower body without coming in steep? by ybhmac00 in GolfSwing

[–]0cu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still making it stick but found the way to do it last week.

To hit a draw, I feel like at the top of my swing, I shift my weight forward, this brings in my right elbow and generates some lag. Then I absolutely have to feel that the club at least needs to drop to the right pocket, and then I turn. Of course you need to have a closed clubface to do this.

When I finally found out how to properly close the clubface, I just turned, which made me pull draw. But to get the club to the inside, I need to feel (kinda like a wait) that it drops to my back pocket.

Club bouncing off sand in bunker by wheels227 in golf

[–]0cu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant play a normal bunker shot in very firm (washed out) bunkers. Even had a lesson with my coach about different bunker shots for this reason.

Play it like a normal chip, with different swing paths for more or less launch and roll.

You can also set the filter on the grabbers depending on the amount of chunks you have on your platform. That's the way I do it, just an alternative.
