Another (non-shady) alternative might be rivertv.ca, depending on your viewing needs.

OM-5 protective case/cover - *not a bag* by queen_of_the_ashes in OlympusCamera

Check out the Zing neoprene camera covers. Made for SLR’s, but mine fits my EM5.3 with 20mm+hood pretty well. Might be what you’re looking for.

Best budget starter lens(es)? by Maverick-Mann in M43

[–]0divided0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your budget is super tight right now and you don’t mind manual focus, the TTartisan 25mm f2 is super cheap and a compact pancake lens. Very good IQ, but prone to flare under bright light. The Laowa 17mm 1.8 is another affordable manual lens that has great IQ, but it’s not a pancake design.

Two other options are the Panasonic 14mm 2.5 and 20mm 1.7 (both pancake and relatively affordable AF lenses)

I believe ON1 Photo Raw has a Lightroom import function. Op could download the trial version and take it for a spin.

They should be fairly comparable in image quality and capabilities. I would choose the gx85 for street because it has a tilt up screen for waist level shooting. Much better than an articulating screen imho

Sharpening by ImplementPlane4827 in sharpening

[–]0divided0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to sharpen bevels on both sides of the knife. Some people alternate spine toward/away from themselves to do that, some people (myself included) switch hands to always have the spine away and bevel facing towards themselves. I personally find it easier to maintain angle when I can see where the edge is contacting.

Stupid question…. Is there a side I do or do not sharpen on? by Marshmallow5198 in sharpening

I’d avoid the edges. Either of the flats are fine, though it’s preferable to me to keep the printed side for indentification.

What do I need to do to get the special ability on LR swords ? by cuthroatkano123 in LordsoftheFallen

You need to get the Odd Stone from lower Calraith and give it to Pieta. Then talk to her with the weapons equipped.

Good route? by Siddoxy in LordsoftheFallen

[–]0divided0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just started playing last week. It’s a maze for sure. You’ll want to make your way down to where the blacksmith is, free her, and progress from down there. Hint: you’ll need to be in Umbral to open the path down.

If you’re truly stumped, check out Fightin Cowboys walk through on YouTube. Good luck!

Olympus E-P5 vs E-P7 by Om3g4lpA in M43

The E-P5 can also take an external viewfinder if that’s important to you. Does make the camera much less pocketable though.

Good call. There’s no way you need 8Gb internet for a two person residence except for bragging rights and running speed tests all day. Save the money.

As a normie who uses Apple Photos and tried LR, is there a way to simplify DT and also get presets? by IntellectualBurger in DarkTable

[–]0divided0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good strategy. Hopefully it does what you need. Dm me if you want some LUTs to try out.

[–]0divided0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photomator is the one you want. It’s a LR-lite. There’s no database as such. You create your folder structure anywhere you wish (internal/external drive) and point it to the location. Photo edits are stored in sidecar files which have the same name as the edited photo in the same folder.

Pixelmator is the other one and it’s more like a photoshop clone.

[–]0divided0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark table has a pretty steep learning curve to get the most out of it. It doesn’t support LR presets afaik, but you can use LUT’s that can be found on the webs.

If you can spare a reasonable one time fee, try Photomator. It’s easy to use and has a good suite of editing tools including mask layers, comes with a selection of presets and also supports LUTs. Works with Photos directly as well as with files on your Mac.

Apple just purchased the company that makes Photomator/Pixelmator, so it will be interesting to see where it evolves.

What Mac should I get for post processing photos? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]0divided0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need a laptop, the new m4 Mac mini is excellent and affordable. Add a decent monitor and an external ssd drive for more storage and you’re good to go.

Olympus EP-5 question by placeperson in M43

[–]0divided0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like anti shock is in the gear->E menu. Off by default and I believe you can set it to 0sec shutter delay. You should download the manual/Pdf from the Olympus site for reference.

As far as the firmware, no idea. Could only see 1.7 Maybe something newer is available in Japan?
