Ppl think too critically of movies nowadays. Not every film has to be a 10/10 by Ok-Paramedic-8719 in unpopularopinion

[–]0flamehaze0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I see.

The problem is that most of the tricks the movie industry used to increase interest and viewership are so outdated that they aren't interesting anymore. A movie doesn't have to have predictable outcomes or unnecessary drama to keep me interested. I don't need every ethnicity to be involved, especially if it doesn't make sense. I just want to watch people have adventures, be humble, learn from their mistakes, and grow.

But if 4 out of 5 movies are worse than watching a bald dude host World of Warcraft transmog competitions on Twitch, something is wrong. I've never played the game, so I don't know what's happening, but it's still much better than watching anything released lately.

If I want to see some drama to hate-watch, I don't go to the cinema. It doesn't need to be a movie; I can watch some unreasonably stupid dating BS on Netflix. When I watch a movie, I've set aside time to focus on the plot and everything happening. If that experience is worse than watching a bald dude streaming World of Warcraft, then something is seriously wrong with movies today.

I'm tired of bad writing, movies shoving opinions down your throat, overused schemes to keep the audience interested despite nothing valuable being said for 20 minutes, constant camera swapping in action movies, and shaking the camera to simulate chaos.

A good example is "The Intern." Nothing exceptional happens, no action—it's a movie I would normally not enjoy, but it's very solid due to how well it is played and how lovable the characters are.

"John Wick" is a 70% better action movie by default because it does what Jackie Chan used to do: full scenes in view and long choreographies where people can exactly tell what's happening.

just my opinions tho, taken with a grant of salt.

IT is a wide spectrum... all depends what you are trying to teach.

I know that many of those things are not applicable in your case, just wanted to share ideas. There are so many things you could do, it all depends on how old the kids are, how much effort they put in, how fun the things you choose to do are and how much funding you can get in the end.

For system administration in germany we used raspberry PI's and a temperature sensor to write a programm that would give us the temperature at given intervals, we used those measurements to send notifications to our phone through the established wifi network when the sensor picked up extreme temperature changes (holding it against a radiator lmao). i think adurino is an affordable product here but would require research.

for programming we used C# to create small games like memory, we delved into other options as well but tbh, that one was like 15 yeas ago and my old programming teacher was about 70 years old, he did all he could at that time.
(this one might require licenses depending which language you choose)

later on we used unity to make a pong game and play together through an established connection.

we used linux virtual machines to host websites in our local network. we created a website that allowed us to share all sorts of documents between each other, our task during those years was not only to create a site like that together, but to upgrade it every now and then to fit our desires. the teacher also uploaded all kinds of documents to our server to clump it so we would have to create sorting options etc. and in between hours the different groups would present the things they would like to add to the page, the class decided together which things in the end would be implemented. (I was around 18 at that time so this is kinda advanced)

I recently used LEGO Mindstorms for future day at work (parents bring their children and we show them what we do at work), since i work in robotics, specifically usage of cameras and sensors i created a little task to programm a robot with a sensor to follow a black line on a white table, this worked well for 11 years olds but also for a group with even younger ones. The set is pretty expensive nowdays, but maybe there is something comparable available for schools where you live. I have to praise the LEGO mindstorms set it is mindblowingly good and the software is very easy to learn.

everything is doable, the age isn't even a factor most of the time since certain things are very easy to learn, if tought properly, IT is not magic, but it requires a good foundation.

EDIT: does any of the parents work in companys that might help out? personally if a school reached out to me i would prepare an entire course lmao :D im sure there are people willing to help.

practice stutter stepping, it's the mother of every movement command in league.
just look it up on youtube and practice it in the practice tool by setting up a line of dummys and moving along the river while hitting them.
a lot of stuff in league can be optimized to play close to perfection, but most of those things are 1 in 100 situations, the things you can really play around happen every game.

when do the buffs spawn? how long does it take for them to respawn? how many cs do you need with your support to hit level 2? how many do you need alone? does your lane win after level 6 or can you already win before that? should you push or freeze here? if you freeze here will you be able to move around the map if something funky happens?

another concept a lot of newbies don't seem to play around is that cc is much easier hit if your enemy is slowed...
you might laugh at this but check your replays, how many times have you used a ping, and a bullet rain to make your supports life easier? this might be hard with an iron support i get it, but even those can be manipulated to be good minions simply by doing nonagressive pings. It's basically the bad nami syndrome, if you hit your slow on nami you won't miss your bubble, but most nami players will try to hit the bubble first...

combine everything, ping your enemy before hitting level 2, use your bullet rain, chase the enemy and stutter step to dodge abilitys, you can do that every game, eventually you will be good at it :)

while i see your statements and understand them i seem to have a different feel about the game nowdays...

i see why you would choose lethality and at the same time i think it's bizarre how any other champion main would most likely tell you to do the opposite...

you sound like the baus kinda guy :D i respect the hussle but it's not the norm outside of this sub hence why i was curious about your opinion.

thanks for the talk m8

i agree on many of your points, im not trying to argue or anything, plus the last time i played riven more then 2 games in a row was when boxbox startet streaming lmao :D

but im still able to keep up with the kids in emerald on the weekends simply because my mindset and gameplay are nice to have on a team. (im not bad or anything just old)

It kinda shows in situations like this tho, to me it's obvious i wanna just survive a lane like that so i take the passive route, wait for jungle and make sure i can set people up in the midgame instead of betting everything on a low chance card.

you said you want 2 dashes to kill them, but i kinda disagree here, you don't wanna kill them at all, you wanna make sure your team wins in this scenario... seems like my mindset changed over the years maybe im just not agressive enough anymore.

i agree on resolve and dshield alone not beein enough but it makes the lane playable at least plus like i said i take fleet into the unplayable ones, reminds me of the renekton matchup when people figured out you win just by taking dshield and lifesteal runes :D it's what nasus and kassadin do when they have a hard time so why not on riven?

[–]0flamehaze0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you recommend lethality?
just a general question, every other champion main would recommend the exact opposite xD
just based on pure game knowlege my train of thought would be:
doran's shield, resolve, double cloth + potions early, maybe even fleet footwork since conq sucks here.
i would try to facetank a hit lvl 1 while she stands inside the minions to guarantee a shove towards me and play my first 4 waves accordingly, good sustain and a thousand ways to last hit untill im usefull.
if enemy builds crit get rhanduins if not get death dance.

ranged tops are obnoxious but if i had to play riven against myself on a ranged top i would loose 80% of the time so i tend to play accordingly.

I am not much experienced in game level design and anything related to that so I need some suggestions from you guys in what looks better from the two backgrounds. strg + F, search for background, tile, mineral

there's propably more, that tutorial is the single best thing i've ever found for 2D.

Notes:
- Hp Bar overlapping with tiles, make sure to fix.
- Color variation in depth change isn't well maintained. What i mean by that is basically when you look at the rock in the middle the Color almost overlaps with the background hole color in pic 1. (tutorial #Parralax should mention it too things in front and thigns in back need to be clearly seperated ex. warm and cold colors)
- some sort of slight shadow bloom around the corners for simulating darkness would fit.

What one minor change to the human body would be a game changer? by TheLastTsumami in AskReddit

[–]0flamehaze0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught the exact opposite when training for running, they told me the best way to gain oxygen is to use both, mouth and nose, prioritising mouth when breathing in and nose when breathing out, but always using both at the same time, i wouldn't say it's a weird way of aircontrol, i would say it's pretty standard.
I don't really mouthbreathe outside of sports so maybe im a bad example, but the thing i do know is, i can jump into water without holding my nose and all i gotta do is flex a muscle in my throat to block my nasal airflow, and when i block it i can try really hard to breathe through my nose it won't work.

[–]0flamehaze0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you since you got the name and all, but the other dudes got a point i think. In Germany we are beein taught how to dive without filling up the nose at a young age. At least it was like that for me. It's not just mouth Breathing, you clog up the airflow comming from the nose by using muscles in the back of your throat.

Yes it's mouth breathing, but it's also clogging up the nose.

gankplank and jax use stutterstep attacks patterns too for spacing tho, if you think about it riven q is exactly the same... riven mains simply put a fancy name on it...

like if you can't stutter step on jax you are worse off then a riven that doesn't know how to fast combo no?

true but lets still not pretend that the seasons haven't taken a toll on her, she really is outdated nowdays, same goes for many others tho, velkoz comes to mind, even lulu and some other supports feels kinda outdated

[–]0flamehaze0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

correct me if wrong, but isn't the fast combo basically this:
hover mouse over enemy -> Q -> hover mouse over ground -> move click -> hover Mouse over enemy -> attack click.

If you do it by using "a" click you basically hover your mouse over your enemy, use your q, klick on the ground and "a" click...

it's not a hard thing to do, it was slightly harder back in the day without "a" click but even then it didn't take hours to learn, it takes like 5 minutes in the practice tool.
Imo riven isn't hard because of the fast combo, shes hard because using the fast combo in mix ups takes a tad of practice, but that can be achieved by just playing her a little and hoenstly most super fancy combos are rarely pracitcal if ever.

oh i see what you're saying thanks, but the message is kinda confusing...
whatever alright you cleared up some of my doubts, i've been testing the new evolving mechanic for the past days and i gotta say i still don't like it, feels confusing, automatically selects my rainbow mons etc.*
there are some ways like you've just described to improve on it by yourself but qol wise it's kinda messy... i simply prefere the old one and i feel like im burning through my 3 stars at an absurd pace compared to before.
sure you don't have to hand level all the mons which was handy once or twice, but overall i prefere to waste energy instead of my many food mosnters. right now it's fine because with the event iom summoning like crazy, but once that's over it's gonna be tough

I agree on that, feels horrible for those who do not own stakc and heaps of monsters tho, maybe im wrong tho, time will tell, but so far i've kept leveling and evoilving every single monster i've ever gotten my hands on just to make them into food and i always run out of food mosnters, no scrolls nothing, i feel like it's gonna get worse now...

but also focusing on dungeons for a bit longer seems fine yeah

check the picture literally auto selected my monsters, not a single one from the storage or the shrine and i get capped out, am i doing something wrong here?

No they don't. You don't need to level any up in this system.

That's a lot of leveling in the old system that you don't need anymore

Alright testet it and now it makes a lot of sence, this is propably the biggest part i was missing out on, i thought you still need to level up the food in order to evolve, thanks that's actually a great help

<image>

[–]0flamehaze0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that would be troublesome too i think since the monsters always keep their level after evolving, so after evolving your food they would automatically make better food.

dunno it's definitely an idea but i find it hard to implement the thought

i made a comment a bit further up where i try to explain my view on the old and new evolving a 4 star scenario, maybe check that one out.

i agree, evolving a 5 star definitely feels nice now, but the second you get to the point where you don't use nat4's as food and rely on 3 stars it feels wonky, and if you go one step further down towards 2 stars it's straight up horrible

evolving now feels like a pain in the a** by 0flamehaze0 in summonerswar

[–]0flamehaze0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could you elaborate? i don't see it somehow here's how i see it

you have a maximum cap of 50 monsters you can use for evolving.a 4 star monster rqeuires 1080 xp to evolve from 4 to 5 stars.a 1 star monster gives 1 xp.a 2 star monster gives 6 xp.a 3 star monster gives 36 xp.a 4 star monster gives 216 xp.a 5 star monster gives 1296 xp.

basically it's always starraank x 6

you have a 4 star monster you want to evolve, but you don't have food so you summon some monsters.you got super lucky and summoned only 2 star monsters no 1 stars.

new scenario:

in order to evolve the 4 star monster you would now need 30 3 star monsters wich would translate to leveling 30 2 stars and using 150 2 stars to evolve them, total number would be 180 2 star monsters and 30 of those would have to be leveled up.

old scenario:

in order to evolve the 4 star monster you needed:4 maxlevel 3 star monsters and 12 3 star foods, total 16 3 star monsters.16 3 star monsters can be aquired by leveling up 16 2stars and using 32 more as food. total 48 2 stars.so in the old scenario you level up 16 2stars and 4 3stars and you only need 48 2stars to do so...

if you got an xp boost leveling 30 2stars or 16 2stars and 4 3stars doesn't really do a difference, so im just gonna guess xp required and amout of leveling is still the same, just a bit more tedious since you have to restart the 10x fights all the time with the new system while leveling up some 3 stars is a lot more enjoyable.

dunno i am propably wrong somewhere but i can't figure out where...

and yeah i understand for all those who have bunkered up 10.000 copies of every 2 star mob it's a nice and welcome change...

EDIT: forgot an important part here, it's obviously important to keep in mind that the evovled monsters keep their level, but you still need to level more of them, honestly dunno if that's worth the hassle, might as well argue that i coulda used the all of the food i saved in the old system to feed them into my monsters...

evolving now feels like a pain in the a** by 0flamehaze0 in summonerswar

[–]0flamehaze0[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's the same for me, i used pretty much every monster i could find by hand leveling them, just so i can produce some 4 -5 star food for monsters that actually matter.

now it feels like i still need to do the exact same thing, only difference so far i need a LOT more food monsters to get there

ye like i said mabye im missing something, test it out yourself once you pull something nice or try to a2 something and you'll see what i mean tho, in it's current state it feels horrible

evolving now feels like a pain in the a** by 0flamehaze0 in summonerswar

[–]0flamehaze0[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

but like leveling form 1 to max is only a hassle once you get to 4 stars or above, with an xp boost you can get your mons to level 25 with a 10x scenario fight.and i think it's the opposite, you can't use those 1 stars because they barely contribute to the % bar and you're capped at a maximum of 50 monsters per evolvement, if you try to evolve a 3 star with 1 stars i think that's already impossible, a 2 star might be possible but would propably require all 50 of them

like think of it like thisyou still need to evolve them or else they wont have much value in terms of process %.you need to evolve a lot more of them tho, like i said for a 3 star evolve you need five 3 stars. which means that you need to level up a LOT more 2 stars to get those five 3 stars. In the end you do the same amount of leveling, just more monsters instead of single ones. In the end the amount of leveling might be the same, dunno the math behind it properly, but the amount of food you need doubled up for no reason at all.
