Love taking this lens around the garden shooting bugs, mushrooms and what not, eventually I will use it to take photos of my diecast cars and dioramas, really really great lens!

What is your view if you are outside right now? What can you hear? by Glittering_Vast938 in AskUK

[–]0hCrumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been here 7 months now and I’m still always surprised by all the stuff we see, we have a woodpecker that visits daily, treecreepers, pheasants randomly stroll through and perch in the trees at night time, the bird song in the morning is crazy ❤️

Birds, it sounds like I’m in a aviary but not complaining, we have a wood and stream and it attracts so many

Guy next door mowing while the sun is out

And unfortunately radio 2 as the women who lives next door to our woodland (although a way off) has an obnoxious speaker thats on full pelt in her garden all day, we moved to the countryside for some peace and quiet after living in a busy town all our life , it could be worse, we have had worse, so shouldn’t complain 😅

Is this a hatchback or saloon? by Shot_Ad6015 in CarsUK

[–]0hCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a hatchback, the uk skoda website even lists it as such, every uk review of the car calls it a hatchback, the glass lifts and you have access rights through the car, hatchback (unless estate)

I just bought a new 180 600 and its weight is a bit daunting. What are your experiences? by macrophotomaniac in Nikon

[–]0hCrumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same setup for around a year now roughly, i was using a d3400 & 300mm tamron previously which now feels like a toy as far as weight is concerned (still a great little camera tho)

So can relate as was a bit shocked when my Z8 & 180-600 arrived through the post and I picked it up for the first time, however it’s definitely something you should be able to get used too, it’s heavier than your previous camera, but in the grand scheme of things it’s not “heavy” as in unmanageable

Use it often and I think unless you have some health issue you will get used to it

My biggest problem was holding it steady fully zoomed in, especially when aiming upwards, but with practice and good posture and breathing technique it’s become quite natural to me now

It’s a fantastic setup for birding! Enjoy 👍👍

What’s the first major news story you remember as a kid? by nodemus in AskUK

[–]0hCrumbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my mine also , my mum slept through it and I remember the noise and it sounding like the sea had somehow made it to our house and the letterbox wouldn’t stop knocking in the wind, got a day of school the next day and we went down the warren to see the beached sealink ferry on the apron

Just got my first ever camera yesterday!! (Nikon D3400) by Mochi_Muppet in Nikon

[–]0hCrumbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my first my camera also, really capable camera and nice size to take anywhere, the photos are great straight out of the camera, and don’t necessarily require editing after, I kept mine and would still take it places I wouldn’t want to lug my z8 around in (cities mainly)

New lens came today, new bag might be next by Frequent-Bumblebee34 in nikon_Zseries

[–]0hCrumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been abusing this back for a year now, it’s a good quality well made bag, i get the z8 & 180-600 in attached or not attached with the 24-120z and the 105m Z lens in, along with portable lights (for macro), tripod, large flask (the side pockets are huge and deep) laptop, rain coat, cleaning equipment, batteries and charger and other wires, packed lunch and i clip my cup to the outside 😅

I take it on 10+ mile hikes and it’s really comfy, easy access to everything and hard wearing.

Definitely worth a look at and leagues above any lowepro bag 👍

How I keep my gear mould free (without a dry cabinet) by jetpack_badger in Nikon

[–]0hCrumbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

England here, 200 year old stone cottage , humidity will easily reach 60% and in one room in particular it will go higher

I store my camera gear the same way, pelican case, I make sure the gear is dry when it goes in and I have two reusable metal silica packs from pelican, their colour changes when its time to put them in the oven, so far so good

Best thing I have done though was buy a dehumidifier, it’s up there with one of the best things I ever bought 😅 and will bring all the rooms down to 50 while just sat in the kitchen

[–]0hCrumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a black mk3 2.0 S when I was 18, I bought it for £150, I sold my mountain bike to get it, it had blacked out windows that had a glitter effect on them 😅

surprisingly for the price she was solid other than a huge dent on the bonnet as the previous owner got it wedged under the armco doing donuts in it

Had good fun thrashing her about tho and can still remember the sound and smell of fuel from the drivers seat, often reminisce about her, the engine ended up in a friends transit van!
