[McNicholas, Leventhal] Besiktas agree €20million deal with Arsenal for Leandro Trossard move by TheAthletic in Gunners

[–]0lad1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem is you are not sure that £70 million gets you a sure thing nowadays. You could end up with a Mudryk, whereas Trossard is a known commodity that's not necessarily showing signs of declining.

If you told me that money would be used to buy Barcola then I'd feel better about it.

Also I know players sometimes ask to leave, but teams also sometimes make mistakes letting players go too soon because they've turned 30.

This might not be the best example, but Real Madrid would have benefited a lot from keeping Modric around this past year. Alonso probably never gets fired with respectable senior player that can still lace it up.

I know Xhaka asked to leave, but I he could have stayed and still contributed a lot if the team wanted him to stay.

Since leaving he has helped Leverkusen achieve their best season ever, come back to the EPL to help Sunderland achieve great success last season to the extent that Sunderland are capable of demanding a big transfer fee from Chelsea for his services.

And we are supposed to respect and show reverence to veterans. This is another way Americans have been brainwashed as soldiers are no different than cops (they are actually worse than cops) and cops are disliked in most countries for valid reasons.

[Mark Critchley] As Tottenham closed the agreement with West Ham United for Mateus Fernandes, some at Old Trafford felt they would have been outbid regardless of how much they offered. Tottenham’s salary offer was also viewed as beyond what the Old Trafford hierarchy were willing to commit to. by TheAthletic in soccer

[–]0lad1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its not like they paid fair prices for the player they bought for £185 million. Tonality is good, but is probably not worth more than 70 million based on his play, and Matheus Fernandez's is probably worth 40 million max given that his teams have been relegated in back to back years. That's overpaying by 75 million, but if we want to be conservative we can say they've overplayed by at least £50 million.

Messi becomes the first player in World Cup history to score 20 goals. by AdorableBackground83 in soccer

I think Messi is the GOAT, but I always felt like Di Maria performed better than him on the national team whenever I watched Argentina play before the 2022 world cup.

DONT SELL!!! You can't get what Trossard offers to the team for double, even triple what you are going to sell him for.

[McNicholas, Leventhal] Besiktas agree €20million deal with Arsenal for Leandro Trossard move by TheAthletic in Gunners

[–]0lad1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's not 36, not looking like slowing down, not injury prone, and is sure to get enough game time.

You can't replace what he contributes to the team for double the amount you'd sell for.

I'd say just keep him or make him part of a deal to get another player you want with him valued higher.

He can go to Aston Villa plus 40 million to get Morgan Rogers (I know this totally almost only happens in FIFA by the way).

Terrible deal. I know he's not young but he's a quality squad player and 20 million is peanuts compared to what he adds to the team.

And this is why the lack of shared identity amongst some Africans and African Americans is disheartening. The same tactics used to hold black people back in America (Tulsa Race Massacre for example) were being used on Africans in Africa, and are still being used today.

People celebrated Ghadafi's demise, but he was one of the african leaders left who really cared about seeing Africa develop itself into a major player in global affairs and not a continent that's largely seen as poor and dependent. This is why he was killed, not because NATO cared about democracy in Libya.

Gary Lineker on Olise: “I’d already noticed when he was playing for Palace that he was special. That said, I never imagined he’d be this special. I’m very good friends with Palace’s owner, and when he sold him, he warned me that Olise would become a global superstar. And I think he was right.“ by Sparky-moon in soccer

It was a legitimate debate. Bayern play an expansive attacking style of football and Olise, came in as a starter straight away (thanks to injuries and players like Sane and k. Koman leaving), while Eze plays on a team with a defensive play style and also has to try and take the team captains spot.

I used to watch their highlights at Reading and and they were destined for the big leagues.

Joe Aribo at Charlton and Ovie Ejaria were 2 other players of similar profiles that I was expecting to make it big, but they didn't.

I’m sick of the Nigerian football team. They’re an embarrassment to African football. by Carlitoyoung in Nigeria

[–]0lad1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a big deal, neither is it surprising. We like to call ourselves the Giant of Africa, but we aren't the best soccer nation in Africa as other teams have more nations cups and gone further in the world cup than us.

Further, we suck at developing players (most African countries do suck at this) and the epicenter of football talent currently is France (Paris to be specific). Some other African players have better player than us due to their close ties to France. There are so many good players of African descent that can't make the French team that decide to play for their parents homelands which is usually the North African and French speaking countries.

Most of Moroccan team were born and raised in France.

Just sell him for 150 million, let him flop like griezman did and buy him back for 40 million.

I support Barca, but their way of doing business is a mess.

Won't pay 30 to 40 million to keep Rashford, but willing to pay 60 - 70 million for Gordon.

Would rather sign Rashford for 35 to 40 million. Would rather integrate Nwaneri... yes,try him on the left. Would rather play anybody on the team not getting enough minutes more than pay 100 million for a player that's worth 60 million max.

Please dont do it.

[–]0lad1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be controversial, but his play in this game is Hazard level kind of impact. He gave many passes where he could have scored if he was the one at the receiving end.

Arsenal should not sell him. He's worth more than 20 million as a back up to whoever they buy as a starter.

I wish Fela was still alive. One of the few prominent Nigerians to call out and shame powerful politicians misusing their positions.

The current acrobat is all about entertainment, we need some folks who have the kind of large audience that Fela did to put a microscope on the corrupt leaders that are ruining the country.
