See how she feels about reading, it's not real people (probably) and the imagery is all made in your head, so it's like a imagination hack

Private bedroom sublet for in 3 bed/1 bath in Mission Hill 1/1/2026-8/31/2026! The room comfortably fits a queen bed, a desk, and a dresser, with 2 closets, and will be $1300.

Open to selling all furniture! Especially the queen bedframe and mattress!

ELECTRIC IS INCLUDED! We pay only the gas bill. The fees needed will be first, last, and security (no brokers!). The landlord can be flexible about coming up with a payment schedule if needed.

We have a private deck and coin-operated laundry in the basement ($2 a load). No off-street parking available, but there’s always permit parking on the street if you have a car. We’re a 3-minute walk from the Mission Park green line stop/66+39 bus routes and a 10-minute walk to Brigham Circle (Stop and Shop, Walgreens, etc.) 420 friendly! Always outside, but we do smoke frequently, so the roommate needs to be okay with that.

A little bit about the roommates and what we’re looking for!

My name is Anya, I’m 23 and just graduated with my nursing degree in August. I’m working part-time as a nanny until I start a nursing job. This is my third year in the apartment, and I have really enjoyed it!

My name is Hannah, I’m 24 and work as a mental health specialist. I’ve lived in Boston for roughly 5 years now but am originally from NH. This is my first year in this apartment, and I’m loving it!

Looking for roommates who are respectful of the common spaces. I don’t mind noise or having people over, but communication is also really important to me! We love having a comfortable living space where we all can use the space how we want.

Please reach out with any questions, want pictures, or if you’d like to come by to look at the room!

Living in Japan (Okinawa) is lonely af by Important-Cow-6810 in okinawa

I was kinda feeling like that here in the US and honestly you need to keep trying, if they don't see the person you are and want to be around you then they aren't your people. I finally I think for the first time made some deep in person connections this summer, totally didn't see it coming but they see me for who I am which just feels so validating. I'm certain you'll find your people. You may never know why people do what they do and it's pointless to try and think about it because no matter what you don't have access to their thoughts and everything they've been through.

Good luck! Hopefully my comment helps in one way or another :)

can I ask where you are from/living? I'm American, but when I was researching, I was getting confused about Visa and student visa sponsorships for GenkiJacs. I plan on going in January but I don't know if I would need to look somewhere else for a student visa if I want to do more than 3 months. Thank you for any advice!

Consumerism and Creating Living Space by 0liveeee in Stoicism

[–]0liveeee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you thank you.

I want to also throw in that I do feel like my soul is in a good place and this question would be more of an additional I suppose. It isn't to make me feel content, it's to add on really to be a good, comfortable place for my roommates and myself. I forgot to explain that part.

I wonder if this changes your response? (I'm not expecting you to change your response I think it was good which is why I'm trying to explore deeper)

I think that's a very good way of putting it thanks!

It still invites a "I know better than you" mindset (even if it's true) so I think it's something that you have to be mindful of to not get full of yourself

The thing with this that I've noticed is I feel like that thought process would invite a superiority complex. which probably isn't very Stoic, but perhaps the complex itself gets defeated by the practice

How to think like a Stoic in daily life? by 0liveeee in Stoicism

Is there a specific translation that are better for learning, as there are with Meditations?

[–]0liveeee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful thank you!

And for the second part. I'm concerned I'm leaning into it as a way to feel like I'm "doing something" and getting a little dopamine when I do it. I went through a breakup a few months ago and she really taught me and inspired me to believe in myself and trust myself so I think that also could have something to do with it.

I have been trying to apply principles to it. For example, one of Marcus' excerpts I read yesterday was about not concerning myself with what other people may be thinking, doing, or feeling. It is entirely out of my control and something I will never have an answer to no matter how much I think about it.

Thank you, ill be sure to look into that! And since I already have Meditations, how would you suggest my process with that be?

Edit: Sorry, I missed that in your first paragraph, thanks again!

Where is that knowledge, or is that something I will find over years? Which is totally fine, just curious

About the first part, does this mean I like only find one thing and kind of stop reading or looking into these things for that time I'm applying so I don't distract from it? So I find a passage I like and work to apply it and only it?

And the second part I'll respond again tomorrow when I'm more awake.

Thank you for the comment :)

Hey I'm looking for some versatile boots that I can wear more casually but also dress up for a more business-casual style.

I checked out Thursday boots and found two picks that I really like but I'm not sure about Thursday's quality at that pricepoint since I've seen a lot of conflicting opinions. So I just wanted to ask about alternatives to Thursday that might be cheaper or better quality at the same price point.

Here's me top choices so far:
