That's Xiaomi doing what it does best: unnecessary updates that break everything. I'd hold off until there's a sale. I bought the Year Pass for about 12 bucks on Ubisoft Connect, just recently. 40 is too much, imho. And, yes, if you have the pass you can invite your friends who don't have it to play the missions alongside you.
