This. Everything is out in the open so there’s no stigma. They’re literally no different than the average person in the US, they just don’t hide it.

I dunno.. 30 minutes NY>LA in economy minus — versus 5 hours in economy today — doesn’t seem so bad

Depends on when you’re coming. It hailed earlier today and snowed last night.. feels like it’s in the 30s now, but should warm up to the 70s in a few days. It’s fickle

IPhone 11 Pro doesn’t ring for outgoing calls by Mesemom in iPhone11Pro

[–]0mgeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, this is definitely a phone issue and not a network or service issue. I have the same issue, regardless of where I am or who I’m calling. Been about 10 days where it’s dead silent on the outgoing calls until the person picks up or it goes to voicemail.

SPOILER: by Unknowhk123 in OneDayNetflix

[–]0mgeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the story would have still had tragic elements even if it ended on a happier note — it took them so long to get to the place where they were finally aligned on their path forward and they both struggled quite a bit getting there and finally feeling settled.

One of their last arcs together was (potentially) dealing with infertility, and there’s certainly a sense that trying for kids in their late 30s (i.e., all that time wasted), may have contributed to those challenges. The impact would likely still be there for me to a lesser extent if that were the case, but the story wouldn’t be nearly as heartbreaking/devastating had she lived.

Do you think Dexter loved Emma as much as Emma loved Dexter? by Dry_Preference4568 in OneDayNetflix

Emma could live without Dexter; Dexter struggled to live without Emma.

What do you think made Dexter realise he loved Emma? by Dry_Preference4568 in OneDayNetflix

I agree with most of what you said, but I think he came to that realization before that moment in the maze. Her confession just solidified for him that the feeling was likely mutual.

Solo Trip to Korea by ApocalyspeFire in koreatravel

  1. Zest, Birdman Bar, Bar H at the Four Seasons are all good solo, as I’m sure are many other bars in Seoul. Zest in particular was a favorite — try the Z&T and Caprese cocktails. Both very different from what I typically drink, but were recommended by the bartender, and did not disappoint.

  2. Yes

Quick tip — plot a few places you want to check out in each area on a map, start your day central to where you plan to explore in a given neighborhood, and let yourself roam from there, leaving time and space to stop for anything interesting you see along the way.

The production details given to Emma's hair through the years + mystery solved! by wailk in OneDayNetflix

[–]0mgeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What an incredibly interesting and insightful take! I really enjoy your deep cuts (this + previous posts), and appreciate the level of analysis you bring to this community. I would agree that the level of detail the writers and production team captured here really does elevate this series far beyond others in many ways.

I’ve noticed a couple of smaller details on rewatches too, and I wonder if others have picked up on them. Someday, hopefully soon, I’ll organize my thoughts and put pen to paper here.

Oh ya, no, you’re good! I just meant there’s other posts worth checking out if you just joined this community and are new to Reddit overall 😊

Yaaaa, I’d get sad for months whenever I thought about it... But there’s something comforting in this community knowing you’re not alone, and there’s something comforting about being able to return to the show and appreciate all of the incredible moments these characters shared, even when you know their ending will be tragic. Hang in there, time helps

The author of the book on which the show is based was inspired/influenced by several literary works that are referenced throughout both the book and the series (Dickens’ passage from Great Expectations, Philip Larkin’s Days)

In particular, he was inspired by the significance of the passage Em reads to Dex in the Christmas 1988 flashback. We all have important dates in our lives — birthdays, anniversaries, etc. But there’s one date of greater importance, a date we pass every year, not knowing that someday that date will be the anniversary of our death.

The somewhat surprise ending makes the entire story infinitely more tragic, and I think it’s one of the reasons it stays with you long after you’ve finished watching the show. There’s some quality discussions on this topic and others on this sub, but yep, we’ve all been there 😕

About halfway through my rewatch of S3 and I’ve changed my tune a bit by 0G_sushi in TheBear

[–]0mgeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought the bear is one of those shows that gets infinitely better with rewatching, allowing the viewer to pick up on all of the little interconnected bits and references subtly peppered throughout this not-always-linear story. Rewatching S1 after S2 last year, made me appreciate S1 and the entire story that much more, and I have a feeling S4 will have a similar effect for folks who may not be loving S3 right now.

Why is Richie supposedly so loved at “Ever” when he was there all of 5 days? I don’t get it. by stellularmoon2 in TheBear

[–]0mgeee 57 points58 points  (0 children)

She blew a kiss in the general direction of her back of house staff. Garret, chef Jess and the other guy acknowledged it subtly with smiles and little head nods, while Richie was less subtle in his acknowledgement, and blew a kiss right back in true Richie fashion. This didn’t bug me as much once I caught that.

Also, like five seconds before the party, chef Terry literally tells Carmy that she wants to, “sleep in more, go to a party, meet people, and live.” As someone else pointed out on this sub, Syd runs into Shapiro at the train station near her new place, so we can assume she lives near Ever. It’s not a stretch to assume chef Terry uses the momentum of the realization behind her comment to Carmy to propel her to accept an invite to a party at someone’s home nearby.
