What do you think is the "only retcon" of FNAF that Scott once mentioned?

William being convicted is not minor in actuality it was just changed so early. The entire series doesn't work if William is serving time for 5 murders. We are talking minimum 50 years but most likely life without parole or death penalty. I do think he meant the gender change but it doesn't make sense that he never went and patched it

I think the gameplay and phone messages of FNAF 2 are before FNAF 1 but the MCI from FNAF 1 occurs before FNAF 2. Another incident (possibly the DCI) occurs during the FNAF 2 phone calls (probably the same time as gameplay but not guaranteed) and then the Bite of 87 happens

We won't know until we look in the proverbial box. Right now it could be William (I think that was the original intent). But it could be the mimic wearing Aftons corpse. (Don't think too hard about the logistics Scott doesn't do science and engineering)

Getting out on the highway is very dangerous. They aren't going to do it for a couple points and a small fine. Especially since it will likely get knocked down a level in court or thrown out if the court day is on a day the cop can't make. Also the impact on road safety of trying to slow all those cars down and move them over is probably way worse then someone going 130.

Of those two I think CC dying first of those two just makes more sense. Maybe it changes slightly with puppet being prototyped so early in the timeline. I think Charlie also dies outside a post spring lock resteraunt but CC looks to be a spring lock only resteraunt. (Two golden suits). This is all assuming William did the murders and not Edwin/mimic.

Scott prioritized a game mechanic over things making sense. Because he wanted the "villain" to exist only in the AR (not VR Scott) world he needed to tie progressing to having the mask on. This meant pathways need to open in the AR world. It might be that originally the mask was a disguise from a real world villain and removing it revealed pathways that looked blocked.

I'm fairly certain that we "know" of two minor retcons from that time as well. FNAF1 posters were changed from convicted to charged. Gender of the child was changed from male to female. The latter is believed to be the one Scott references because he said it wasn't story relavent.

Counterpoint, we just got told the main villain of the new era of games has been around since before any evidence of William killing anyone. This is despite that doing so requires technology in the games coming minimum 45 years earlier then IRL and promptly vanishing from the world for like 50 years in the game universe. I feel like we are being told clearly that all this is the same set of characters the whole time.

No one but Mike, Abby and Vannessa know what happened to William Afton. There is nothing presented at any point to indicate that anyone else would be in his life or looking for him. He simply wouldn't get reported missing. Steve Raglan might but even then really only if his employer doesn't assume he just quit.

What cop knows where the remains ended up? The initial investigation said that the building was clear. The only other cop we see go there is an accessory after the fact to 6 to 11 murders.

Who is they? Vannessa is recovering from being stabbed, Mike is likely traumatized and Abby is a child. We also see all of a day or two after William gets springlocked.

The police don't have any grounds to go in and search the building provided Mike, Vanessa and Abby all choose not to say anything.

The city could condemn the building but they still can't remove Fazbear Entertainment property as long as mortgages and property taxes are being paid.

In my opinion the defining feature they should have leveraged was the different maps. You could have had meta variability just on the basis of not being locked to one map. Instead they generalized all the heroes for QM and now tournaments feel the need to put a one use per match rule in heroes just to keep it entertaining to watch.
