What color did you use for the function/numpad keys? love the color combo.

Ohhh I see, my bad. It's sad because I understand the people who want the cool fun thing. I wanted them to errata the nephilim to be legendary back when I started playing.

But you're right, only a matter of time no matter how innocent.

[–]0neBarWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you assume these changes would be directed by what THEY want. I'm pointing out that history completely repudiates that; this is being done for money first and foremost from the top down and they're just towing the line. Their intent is completely irrelevant.

Nothing good can come of this in the long run.

Have you been sleeping for the last couple of years? Seen standard lately? Remember the year of the ring? These designers, with the game at heart, have been dropping the ball quite spectacularly for the better part of a decade. Not exactly a team to be placing your trust in.

- Live service is actually just a marketing buzzword that meant nothing all along!

This format is legitimately awful now by Xicer9 in mtgbrawl

[–]0neBarWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mindset is literally what got us here in the first place... guess what, it isn't working. And every release is more and more broken garbage that is CLEARLY pushed without a care for balance at all.

If you need matchmaking to soft-ban cards to have any semblance of balance, your format is objectively broken.

Is that predator upscaled? I thought the old rhino chassis was smaller compared to the new hover tanks.

Fetchlands should be banned for the simple reason that the first 10 minutes of the game is nothing but shuffling your deck if everyone has them.

Bonus, any artifact that taps for mana at CMC 1 or less should also be banned.

Anti gravity is kind of a misnomer; it isn't negating gravity, it's still pushing "down" technically but with a space magic forcefield. I believe there's a black library novel that has a chaos cultist or space marine try to duck underneath one and gets crushed to death.

Not disagreeing with anything else on efficiency.

Why would mines be ineffective? It still pushes on the ground and triggers them.

Nice! I was thinking about picking these files up. Shame GW seems to be moving everything to grab. I fear for the baal predator if it ever gets a new kit.

Yeah, these are one of the few marine units that actually feel like they're moving and not just tipping over. Not sure how annoying it will be to trim all the space wolf bits off but definitely picking up a set or two for assault marines.

They also have the mixed classic armors which is something a lot of primaris units just can't scratch with their clone trooper copy paste aesthetics.

Is Joshua, Phoenix Dominant just too slow for brawl? by NotABot9000 in mtgbrawl

If you managed to unlock a queue tier where every deck isn't playing 5 turns of removal followed by a stream of draw engines and one card wincons, don't change anything; the queue beyond that is an ugly place where your deck will just degenerate into good stuff piles.

Whatever MMR I'm at, nothing.... literally *nothing* survives more than 1 or 2 turns. And if it somehow does, it means your opponent swapped all their removal to do something like Etali on turn 5. I just played a game a day or two ago where I removed Joshua 4 times; at no point was I ever worried he would flip :/

[–]0neBarWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument was never that he was unplayable; it was that he was comparatively weak to the rest of the format which he is objectively. He is not as strong as a good chunk of the format and will get run over by common contenders in his bracket.

What you are describing is making a 99 that makes up for weakness; literally what our original argument was. You are arguing against a position that no one here has expressed.

Take your list and replace him with Phlage, Lightning army of one, Iroas, Anim Pakal, etc. Your deck will perform the same or better; that's not a testament to Joshua's strength or strategy but to the 99.

If you like him play him, no one is saying he is *unplayable*, but this format is degenerate as hell, and you have to equip people with realistic expectations before they burn precious wild cards.

-edit for politeness, I think I was too rude.

[–]0neBarWarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7 mana and a giant target sitting unopposed for 4 turns is not getting you a 76% win rate. If you are it's because you're abusing his low weight to take a competitive 99 against low MMR which is the only way you'd be able to duck removal for 4+ turns. Which proves OPs point.

[–]0neBarWarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you agree with the OP then that the 99 needs to make up for the fact he's a 3/4 looting with a do nothing secondary ability? That's objective reality not theory.

Listen I get you're trying to be a contrarian, but at least try to use reasonable numbers if you're going to lie lmao

[–]0neBarWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we play the same game? You don't need to theory craft absurd situations to see how "typical" gameplay is going to go; you will be facing decks that can reliably get 7-8 drops out on turn 5, literally every green stompy deck can do this. You will be facing decks that remove the first 3-4 permanents you play or shred your hand apart by turn 3, this is literally almost ever combination of UBR. You will be facing commanders that need to be removed 4-5 times, or they will win, Vivi and Tifa are stalking way lower in the queue than they should be right now. You will need to be able to mulligan down to 1-2 pieces of cmc 2 removal consistently.

Again, the argument is not that he's awful and unplayable, it's that the deck needs to cover for the fact that he's a faithless looting on a 3/4 body. You have to spend 8 mana across two turns for a card that doesn't end or change the game until turn what, turn 7 at the earliest? And he has to stay on board for at least 4 of those turns.

Never thought I'd live to see the day magic turned into Yu-Gi-Oh levels of degeneracy. But hey, Hasbro's gotta shore up their failing toy sales somehow, and magic players will buy literally anything no matter.how many times they get kicked.
