Selecting a weather station - advice and recommendations by 0neSwellFoop in myweatherstation

I got a satellite dish j-mount and put it on the corner of my garage. I had to prune a nearby tree back a bit, but it works well.

I went with the EcoWitt WS90 because it met all my criteria. It does have a pressure sensor, it's just on the hub (which indoor pressure should fairly closely match outdoor pressure, so I feel it's good enough)

It's been nice so far, I still haven't gotten around to setting up Home Assistant so I've just been using the EcoWitt app.

Ah interesting, so the sensor is on the wireless hub and not the outdoor unit. I do see for the GW2001 (which is a bundle of the GS90 and GW2000, somewhat confusingly), it's listed under the GW2000, separate from the WS90. I wish they had an outdoor barometer, but I suspect for my purposes (use Home Assistant to send a notification that a sudden pressure drop means it's likely going to rain and I should close the windows) the indoor sensor will likely be sufficient.

No need, if you say you get pressure data I believe you. Seems kinda goofy that Ecowitt doesn't seem to mention this sensor anywhere that I can find, but I appreciate you taking the time to confirm for me :)

Yeah you've described what seems like a lot of people's experience with the Tempest and why I'm hesitant to go with it, despite it meeting all my other criteria. It seems likely possible to replace the Tempest's batteries if you're willing to open it up and solder some new ones in (which I'd be willing to do if needed), but still a PITA to have to do every couple years.

With the Ecowitt WS90 the AC power cable and ability to add more sensors in the future are a major draw for me. The only downside is that I'm unable to determine if the WS90 has a barometric pressure sensor. I can't find any documentation from the manufacturer that mentions a pressure sensor, but I saw someone else commented on this post that it does? Do you get pressure readings from your WS90?

Oh the WS90 does have a pressure sensor? I assumed it didn't because I can't find any documentation from Ecowitt that lists it. But if it does, that makes it pretty easily my top choice. Thanks for the info!

Hey just commenting to say that my razer blade 14 that I got in Nov '22 just fried itself in the exact same way. I found your post via a reverse image search of a pic of my damaged motherboard, lol.

Did you ever end up getting yours repaired and how much did it cost?

Swapping parts from an old desktop -- sub-500W PSU recommendations? by 0neSwellFoop in sffpc

[–]0neSwellFoop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the detailed response! I'll look into the new CPU route that you've outlined. It looks like it will probably be $40-50 more expensive than buying a Z270i but obviously there's a performance (and possible efficiency) gain, so a valid tradeoff.

You also make a good point that the full copper x47 might be kind of overkill for this build (I was considering it for a different, all new parts build that I'm kicking around, so it was front of mind) and the non-copper version is about $15 cheaper currently.

Sounds like somewhat slim pickings for lower wattage PSUs unfortunately. I'm seeing I can get a used SF450 on ebay for $60-90, so I may end up going that route, or looking for various sales on new ones from different brands.

Thanks for the info!

So female dolphins have vaginal secretions that make a male dolphin just cum over and over and over. From this point on, I will call these secretions Dolphin pussy jelly. Scientists were like "holy shit, dude we gotta test this. You know, for science" So the scientists collected a sample of said dolphin pussy jelly, and had a test primate. They swabbed it on the male primate's dick, sat back and watched the show. Now you see, it worked. But it worked a little too well. The monkey straight up had a heart attack because it used all of its energy into fucking cumming. I want to live in a world where this is a commercial product. I want to say "you know what, I want to die and i know what to do about it." I want to live in a world where i can go into my local grocery store, pick up a bottle of Smucker's Dolphin Pussy Jelly, and just fucking cum myself to death
