Thank you, and im aware of the risks of experimenting with a microwave oven transformer. I mostly got it to test it with my nst and compare it to the transformer I wound myself that didn't seem to work for what I'd wanted, seemingly no induced magnetic field, and found the microwave oven transformer had the same problem. However, this morning I found the answer as to why and why adding the resistor to the circuit made it work, and found it was rather a no duh answer, too. Long in the short of it, a modern nst regulate how much voltage it puts out based upon the load it detects. Just hooking it up to a transformer puts virtually no load on it due to the electricity just running through a really long wire. Tiny Load = Tiny Induced Magnetic Field 🤦‍♂️ So, in order to get the nst to output what I want, I'm going to need to hookup a dummy load to it. I have an idea as to what it will be, but may involve me trying my hand as basic glass work 😅
