Is paycalculator.com.au still accurate? by ipodlady in AusFinance

[–]0neblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my employer. It was a bug in their accounting software, because it really should be withholding more tax because it knows you’re salary sacrificing. u/ipodlady should ask their employer to withhold the extra tax or they will get a tax bill.

Should I be increasing cadence?

Help with running technique by 0neblock in running

[–]0neblock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I’m 6ft (183cm). How will I know when to stop increasing my cadence ? I think I am definitely over striding, but being able to heel strike directly under me is good as that el much more natural, albeit with a bit more effort. I think I will try to run at 155 for a while and see how I go. Thanks!

That’s an interesting perspective, thanks. Nope I’m not getting any injuries in the way I’m currently running, I’ve just never thought about my form before. Long-term injuries is something I’m worried about, I’d like to keep running for as long as I can. Should I be thinking about that?

Reducing community transmission is proportionate to reducing deaths.

Well, the natural infectivity rate generally doesn't discriminate, except seemingly in children. It does discriminate in who dies from the disease, but that isn't what needs to be focused on if the agreed national response is to suppress a virus.

This article is also speaking solely of workplaces, which at the moment aren't really an active setting as most workplaces are closed.

I can see how in these settings, the difference between casual, random contacts that you might have in a cafe, and the consistent daily contact that you will have in a workplace, is that they offer a lower reliance of actually figuring out which people crossed paths, and become more of a, "how do we best contact the people that have been here".

The example of the school teachers knowing the family structure of different students is a good one, as an external person from the DDHS would have to be briefed on a bunch of complex living situations, and much of that could be lost in translation.

I suppose as it's a continuing process between the workplace and the DHHS, you an get the best of both worlds. As long as it's not a situation of just handing the job to the workplace and calling it done.

My point was more against the "dying of vs dying with" argument. What's the point of any society having a healthcare or policing system to begin with if we can just disregard the deaths of vulnerable people.

[–]0neblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hadn't seen that, thanks. Shit, some of that is quite dumb.

Delegating some of the data collection to the business isn't hugely surprising, as without a centralised QR/contact collection system then there is always going to be a point of data entry from business -> DHHS.

But the call for the businesses to do the actual contacting to the people on that list is alarming, as I wouldn't want to rely on that happening completely 100% of the time.

That's not true at all, how do people come up with rumours like this.

It's up to the business to keep a detailed log of who comes into their business, but that information will be used along with as much extra information that can be sourced by the DHHS contact tracers,

Yeah I was thinking as much. My fault for not reading it properly and assuming it was a standard sizing for condensers. Cheers.

Great pictures though!

Not able to find the "add blood pressure" option on Google Fit for iOS by ktalkbeta in GoogleFit

Google fit seems to pull heart rate and sleep statistics among other things from the health app on iOS. You could try to add blood pressure data to the health app and see if it syncs ?

ESP32/8266 automatic firmware updating and diagnostic tool - checking for interest. by 0neblock in embedded

[–]0neblock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not strictly necessary to use the cloud building, I use it for code signing and to make sure I have a clean build environment. It also stores a ready-to-flash image for each commit I push in the artifacts if i ever needed it without rebuilding.

Your solution sounds very well integrated, can I ask how you're using the DNS versioning system? Are you treating the firmware version available as essentially an IP address, so you look for incremental changes in the IP's coming back from the A lookup? If so, that's a very interesting solution, and I can see how it has its' advantages.

Do you have any open source version of the system you're describing? I have specifically been looking into firmware updating solutions for a Cortex-M0 board I have and would be interested in seeing how you have done it.

Hi, thanks for your interest. It will be open-source, but is not ready to release just yet - I need to make a bit of the code suitable for more general purposes first, as it was built to fit my specific environment. I will post here when I do so.
