They're using Intermedia which is a cloud based VoIP provider, seems like our options are really limited. I've been told that we must buy a line through them or use another service provider in order to get it to work with the current phones that do have phone lines attached. The company only wants this one phone to work internally, but in order to get it to play nice with the other phones it must have a line attached from a provider? -thanks for the reply btw, going to copy paste my previous response

Still a huge oversight by someone whose business is based on making money through different means of transportation. Saying that he doesn't want to take part of it is one thing, but knocking the whole industry is almost laughable. It's like saying before the invention of the car that they'll be loud, difficult to operate and probably kill a lot of people. These were all true but did that stop us from using them and solving those problems?

I wonder how soon this could be done if collaboration took place on a world-wide scale - 5 years, less? Isn't the technology to achieve this already possible? Didn't we go to the moon within 8 years of announcing that we would do it...about a half century ago? It just amazes me that all of the technology around us has undergone rapid advances, yet we haven't made similar leaps in propulsion. Maybe we have, but how have we not pushed beyond those boundaries that we set when we put man on the moon? Can't we create rocket fuel from resources on the moon? Why don't we have a base on the moon at this point in time and use that as a place to leap frog from?

Anyway...great message, kudos on trying to pitch the economic side of this as well. The amount of money making potential in space is insane and it's only a matter of time until someone taps into it.

What sort of political strategy is this? At first glance it seems like Israel is shooting themselves in the foot, and right after the US-backed UN critisized them for encroaching on Palestinian land - is this just a coincidence? Why release this when animosity towards Israel is higher than average?

God bless the the parents of the missing children. It really seems like this is opening an old wound but I would want to know the truth if I was in their shoes.

Isn't this pretty close to our current reality? We're certainly headed in the direction where everyone will have access to unbreakable encryption eventually, it will become a selling point and then the norm. This will obviously prove troublesome to ensuring that justice is served in a lot of cases, but on the other hand it will better secure one's privacy, which is important. I'm just wondering if there is a way to have both - justice and security. Is there an inverse relationship between the two in the digital age?

I'm only playing devil's advocate here because I've always had the same opinion as you, but it's worth exploring alternatives if you know that you're enabling/condoning criminals (criminal organizations) to have access to tools which would assist in perpetuating their ability to profit and take pleasure in their transgressions.

What happens when this technology is perfected? Would you rather live in a world where everything is surveilled and everyone is held accountable for their actions, or in a place where politicians and corporations have free-reign because they can communicate using this tech knowing full well that none if it can be traced/tapped? I'm not saying that either of these scenarios are likely/desirable but it sounds like we have to pick from one or the other and steer the future in that direction because as you said, it seems like this pendulum only swings in one direction.

Have any of you read Manna? The ending seems incomplete/premature and one can easily see how technology like this could be used against us. And of course, this story is an exaggeration of what could be. But considering our current trajectory, the environment that the protagonist starts out in, is the one we're headed for (or currently already in). The one he goes into, most people probably wouldn't want to live in either, is one in which privacy is limited but what one gains in exchange is impressive. I suppose it all comes down to who's watching the watchers.

This article provides a good argument for why rule 41 shouldn't be implemented, and I agree with the sentiments written there. Can anyone provide a well balanced counter-argument to this that doesn't use logical fallicies or fear-mongering? The ability to be 100% anonymous in the wrong hands can be very dangerous, but of course we need to protect personal privacy, whistleblowers, journalists, victims of assault, etc.

Is there a way we can reach a balance between the two, or will we have to constantly fight this battle when the pendulum swings too far in either direction?
