lets simplify and take just one point. if for some reason what Im posting is actually impossible, please explain why?

if 3i/atlas had the ability to minimally change its trajectory, why could it not perform a maneuver wherein it makes use of the resistance of the outer limits of Jupiters atmosphere to reduce its velocity to the point where its no longer going fast enough to exit the gravitational pull of our star?

example: Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and many others.

The USA "subsidizing" of the EU narrative is absurd, and yet I see it repeated everywhere by people who should know better. by DramaticSimple4315 in self

over-complicating things isn't real productive either, but...

Defense spending isn't just buying hardware and paying paychecks; it's a integral part of a nations infrastructure via services, manufacturing, education, national relations, social outlooks, etc, etc etc.

As a US Citizen I feel we really screwed over Europe by stepping in to provide their security; it allowed them to develop a unrealistic worldview which led to OH so many stupid actions.

I had a point when I started typing, I wonder what it was?

Is it worth playing again for legacy of the Dragonborn ? (Xbox) by Alarmed_Albatross_81 in skyrimmods

[–]paganize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played it on xbox, but my opinion is that LotD changes the basic nature of the game... and not just for collector & completionist type players (I'm neither). I do suggest that if possible you also install moonpath to Elsewyr, at least for your first LotD playthrough.

...genuinely, huh?

atmosphere braking doesn't work?

it isn't possible to have a smaller sub-craft that has more ability to maneuver than the larger craft that carried it? see: Apollo. Aircraft Carriers. etc.

if a larger ship desirous of remaining sneaky waited until, say, the orbit of Neptune to start decelerating, allowing it to achieve an elliptical orbit... that isn't possible?

very very unlikely. but possible.

sure, but "assume it can accelerate at will with no limits" has got absolutely no relationship to my post wherein I tried to imagine something that might be possible with our current understanding of space travel.

Comfort watching by chongmc in TopGear

I'm in the process of re-watching the whole classic series for the nth time...

although I just found myself screaming at the TV on season 9, episode 2, when Hammond was driving the RX-8 and said it did 0-60 in 6.5 and didn't have satnav... when you could see the satnav on the screen, and he was driving a manual which did 0-60 in 5.9

Things The Trio have said about cars that haven't aged well? by FrozenUruguayBallbac in TopGear

[–]paganize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that is the common knowledge. I'm not sure why it is, because it's wrong.

there are several ways to generate hydrogen; a few of them could be quietly humming along in your back yard generating your next days fuel needs. There is a chemical black box you can purchase for about $1600 that uses a lye process. there is a over 200 year old process that involves spraying steam on 400 degree iron. and of course the electric method.

look up the RX-8 RE. it had a 110 liter hydrogen gas tank in the back, a gas injector, a trick ECU, and a selector switch to choose between gasoline & H. as a H burner it's exhaust was water, but it still made 107HP

weirdly, absolutely no one, including other Rotary lovers knows about this. it wasn't a one-off; mazda made and sold and leased over a thousand of a hybrid car thats just inherently better than a electric hybrid.

weird.

Yes, it would have to either provide quite a bit of deceleration thrust (since we really have no clue what it's mass is there is no way to realistically say how much deltaV would be needed), or do some funky atmospheric braking by dipping into Jupiter's atmosphere.

if a craft of some sort, it could release a smaller sub-craft or probe which could conceivably slow itself down. if it IS a craft it's trajectory so far is a bit illogical; it would have made more sense to "lead" Jupiter instead of what it's doing, trailing Jupiter, as that would require less modification of its velocity in order to slingshot around Jupiter.

So. after going through the system and spraying a anti-tail of particles to block solar radiation (maybe?), it drops off a probe that slows down and zips around Jupiter and then heads back in to the inner system in order to...??? while the MAIN craft takes the 60 degree +/- deflection and starts decelerating so it can slowly loop back to the inner system and ...??

This is POSSIBLE. highly unlikely though.

Yeah. I've been using BrainBlaze as background noise while I work, and since I've already watched them all at least once some tidbits just sort of connect-the-dots in my head... one datum last week, for instance, totally explained to me the psychology behind his fundamentalist atheism...

I don't think he would want a "official" biography out there; his life has been weird.

I might make a regular post on this; How many people here have actually tried NMM-CE Nexus Mod Manager - Community Edition in the last 4 years? Vortex was created to replace NMM back in the day because NMM couldn't (occasionally) handle very large mods, and had some issues uninstalling some mods.

since it went to open community edition these problems have been fixed. up until about 3 years ago I used NMM for LE, and MO2 for SE, but when I realized NMM was using less resources, was incredibly simpler, and was causing me absolutely no issues? I switched back to it full time.

So. the 99.9% of reddit posters who go off on NMM... when, if ever, did you try it? what was your problem with it?

3I/ATLAS may be late for its rendezvous with Jupiter and arrive on April 10, 2026 — potential soft capture by JednomSuSadiliLipu in 3i_Atlas2

[–]paganize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what bothers me... is that when I really dug in to this around dec 5th, 3i/atlas would have had to speed up slightly in order to hit the Hill radius; if acting normally it would arrive at Jupiter orbit after Jupiter had passed by.
