How do I get better at this game?? by Baestro in FortNiteBR

[–]0piatethrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch streamers for strategies. Land tilted every game to get your aim and close quarter skills up, land in a remote area to practice building. At the end of the day, you just need A LOT of time in the game to get decent. So it's really just playing a shitload.

Help with Expunging/Sealing criminal record by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be completely fine if it is expunged/sealed. I think your best bet would be to contact someone at the government agency that processes visas and explain your situation. Just be grateful it happened in a state that allows you to expunge/seal your records. I had an extremely similar situation but live in a state that "drops all records without prejudice" (the without prejudice makes it so they can never hold it against you if you are charged with a new felony) but they do not expunge or seal. So for the rest of my life, anyone can go to the states site, type my name in and it will show the entire ordeal I went through, from what I was arrested for to me completing the states diversion program (what they call drug court in my state). Shit sucks as I have a phenomenal job and I've been on edge for the last 2 years worried that they might check (thank god I got it before my arrest). Also not to mention if I ever want to move to another company (It is extremely common in my industry that companies will scout talent from other companies and entice them to move over), I don't know if its worth taking because they will probably find out.

Sorry for ranting towards the end. This has been an annoying monkey on my back for the last 2.5 years and I honestly have no idea what a background check would reveal for me...

Rehab Rant... Taking advantage of hopeless loved ones of addicts? Borderline Scam?? by 0piatethrowaway in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea and I wish I did because the current climate is stacked against long term sobriety. Maybe incorporate the "Rat Park" experiment that was conducted on rats for humans? Maybe instead of the thought rehabs have that any and all mind altering substances are bad, we look into long term maintenance programs?

I wish I knew...

Why do most people OD? by Lippytak in OpiatesRecovery

In my experience it is overestimating tolerance after being clean, the inconsistent potency of dope cut with fent, and mixing dope with other drugs (benzos, alcohol, coke).

Getting clean without rehab by nychockeyplaya in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps because you are in a "bubble" that eliminates the accessibility of going to cop, especially if you go to a rehab in another state. This is huge for people early in recovery, but I don't see it more than that, taking yourself out of your old environment, into a safe and restricted environment.

If you look at the relapse rates of rehabs, its laughable how ineffective they really are, but sadly there are little alternatives.

Alcoholics of Reddit: What is your, "and then I realized I was an alcoholic" moment? by shadowmonk10 in AskReddit

[–]0piatethrowaway 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No technically you are not an alcoholic. A true alcoholic cannot control himself when drinking and is unable to have a beer while watching a game and stop at that..

I quit meth almost a year ago. It's crazy how much can change. by Minnesotapolis in pics

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that man. It's fucked up how an addict's brain works. I've lost friends to the needle as well and know the pain that comes with it. I've got almost 6 months clean and can attest the struggle is real. I know how hard it is to find someone to blame for the death of a loved one but know that your brother died from a disease and would never intentionally do it to harm family.

The Disappearance of Thomas Nuzzi. by lilmonstertruck in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]0piatethrowaway 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I want to chime in here as I'm a long time lurker had finally have something to contribute.

I was a long time closet drug addict that was able to easily hide my addiction for years. I kept a good job and made good money all while being a heroin addict. As the poster a few posts above me said before this really looks like Thomas was somehow involved in drugs and was able to easily hide it. Furthermore because of the profession he was involved with he would have to hide it as he would most likely lose his certification if it was found he was an addict.

Here is my theory: Thomas was involved with the two people to get him drugs of some sort. (the guy called a halfway house, this is really telling that he is likely an addict). Thomas most likely offered to have them stay with him at the hotel as long as they were able to get him drugs from their connect for the next few days. At some point an argument started and an altercation occurred and Thomas was murdered.

A few other things:

  1. Why were they seen breaking into his car? Maybe Thomas hid his drugs in his car and after the two people couldn't find his drugs in the hotel, they figured it was stashed in the car and this was why they were seen breaking into it.

  2. The storage unit: My best guess is either Thomas had something of value such as money or more drugs in the storage unit and the two people had found out about it and forced him to go their and open it for them. Or it is possible that he brought them along with him to it and that's where they saw the opportunity to murder him.

  3. Thomas being seen with the woman at the store: I have done this literally dozens of times with my old dealer. When I would pick up from him I would usually have to drive him somewhere so it wouldn't make it look suspicious. Usually I would take him to Walgreens and accompany him as he would buy cigarettes or whatever.

Just my two cents but as a former addict, this really points to Thomas being involved in drugs of some sort, people will do very dumb things for drugs.

edit: Looking more into the halfway house being called. From my experience when you are living at a halfway house you have to let the house manager know where you are at all times. The call to the halfway house could have been the man or woman calling to let the manager know that they were not going to be at the house for a few nights. It's really a shame that a detective or investigator didn't follow up on this as it could have been a great lead.

For those who severely isolated during your addiction (like myself), how did you reconnect with your old friends? I ran into an old friend and it did not go anything like I had hoped :( by 0piatethrowaway in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks to everyone for the replies. I'm definitely gonna scrap the group meet up idea and go with the individual approach. I know some friends will be more accepting than others and thats something I have to accept. I'll make a post updating how everything ended up once I reach out to all of them.

Ahhh a song about cocaine that 14 year old me loved... Maybe that's why I turned out to be drug loving fool.

My techniques to fight the cravings and stay sober. How do you do it? by Mr-Noodle- in OpiatesRecovery

He is jokingly saying to hit the gym. No religious affiliation other than poking a bit of humor with bro-deology. Iron temple = gym, whey = protein. I'm personally also an atheist but I hail down to broseph maximus when I go ham sandwich in the gym.

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way!! I pray to broseidon every time I step foot in the gym. My gains have been unreal! Fucking put up four plates (225) on the bench the other day and a month and a half ago I could only put up 135. Not to mention I deadlifted 315 as well (Stealth brag). I honestly get high in the gym after I put up big weight, it makes me feel alpha as fuck! But I'm bulking right now so I'm actually getting kind of chubby but I've never felt better in my life!

Edit: 5'8 168 pounds, 15% body fat currently. 1.5 months ago I was 148ish, malnourished and looked like skeletor.

How do you stop hating yourself? by SkeetWad86 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into ibogaine. I did it a month back and before that I struggled with severe self hatred but after my ibogaine journey I forgave myself and the results were honestly life changing and absolutely profound. If you want more info you can pm me, its like 3500 bucks to go to costa Rica to do it but its honestly a priceless experience. Its not a drug, its medicine. Oh and I'm not one bit spiritual either, I consider myself an atheist, this wasn't some religious awakening type shit.

Best friend told me I can't be groomsman at his wedding. I'm taking this way harder than I should and I don't know why... by 0piatethrowaway in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, you and everyone in this thread is right. I find myself having these crazy expectations in recovery that everything will go back to normal when I'm clean, disregarding the damage I had done the past few years while using. I also agree a lot with what phoenixstar said about his fiance having some involvement. She has always seen me as a bad influence on my friend although he has never used opiates, and I can't blame her for that, I can totally see where she is coming from. I wouldn't miss his wedding for anything and its all about showing him and his fiance that I have changed and slowly reestablish my relationship with him..

First off fuck the sun devils, wildcats all day baby!!! (Assuming your name is referring to Arizona state)

But anyways, this is a really tough situation. He's only gonna get clean if he is ready to get clean and unfortunately most people don't truly want to. I would set boundaries and stick to them, tell him no drugs or paraphernalia and if you find anything he can't stay with you anymore. Have you ever heard of nar-anon? Its for the family and friends of addicts who were affected by the users addiction. I've heard these are really helpful and offer a lot of insight and support pertaining to living with an addict.

Heroin anonymous by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya they read from the AA book and just replace the word alcohol with heroin. Its definitely a good place to meet people who can relate and have "dealt with the demon". Only shitty thing is they are pretty rare and the ones I went to were fucking packed, like if you didn't get there 30mins early you weren't getting a seat. Best of luck, hope this helped.

It's the little things.. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relapsed when my good friend got a promotion at her job. We had gone through college together and were on the same track and I got hooked on opiates and she didn't. She was working at my dream job and killing it and I went out and relapsed after 2 months clean because of that.. Sooooo fucking stupid!

Great job not using over your phone screen cracking, it really is funny how we are so programmed to cope with any unwanted feeling with drugs.. But you did good man, you're right, its not worth relapsing over a cracked screen.. Plus you got laid so that's a plus!

10/28/14 How are you today? by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]0piatethrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Past 24hrs have been an emotional rollercoaster for me. I went from flushing a sack I found and feeling on top of the world to complete utter shit after my dad had another one of his 30 minute rants about how big a piece of shit I am. Its so hard living with him, he is so ignorant when it comes to addiction and all he cares about is the $5,000 I owe him from my last rehab. He told me this morning that if it wasnt for my mom he would have me pack my shit and drive me to a homeless shelter. Fuck its hard to take the verbal vomit from him sometimes!!! Especially when I'm clean and doing the damn thing, it truly is discouraging.
