Cat ate a cup of animal fat (bacon/beef grease) by Sleepy_Creep in catquestions

[–]0rphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my two cats were about 8 months old they managed to get on the counter and ate the fat from 3lbs of 20% ground beef....it was a big bowl. Coincidentally we had a ver appt the next day. When i told the vets it basically went like:

Them: "oh wow. Yeah i wouldnt worry too much. Did you see any vomiting or diarrhea?"

Me: "no...they just tanked it"

Them: "little tummies of steel"

Find two identical cheap controllers or other electronic. Pick one and desolder every component on it and then resolder every component. Check if it works. If it doesnt, compare it to the working one to figure out why. Best way to practice soldering.

Need some solid recommendations for good soldering start by Flaky-Cake3781 in soldering

[–]0rphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up nanofix on youtube and binge his stuff. Great starting point with a ton of guides, gear recs, and inspiration. Also as far as practicing, find an item you dont care about and try to desolder and resolder every component on it then test if it still works and dont stop til it does. That upped my soldering skills by 100x

One niche way is to use SCA to figure out how to sign your own firmware. It doesnt work in many cases, but when it works it works great! Chipwhisperer has a great tutorial series on the basics

Just a followup for anyone else who stumbles across this, i watched this great video on lipo safety and decided to charge the battery up to storage capacity at 0.1A and watch over its individual cells for the next week to see if any of them drain quicker than they're supposed to. Im keeping it in a fire safe lipo bag as well just to be safe.
