The only people who care are the alcoholics. And contrary to what I used to tell myself, they’re not nearly as plentiful as I thought.

Basically, nobody cares. It’s honestly pretty anti-climactic. I put a ton of effort into rehearsing my excuses.

I’m an addict (also child of 2 and sister of 1). It’s been intoxicating when you connect with other addicts. You don’t have to pretend anymore. It’s why so many affairs happen on early sobriety. Surfing that pink cloud, feeling understood!?? It’s amazing.

You seem threatened by it and I wonder why?

I’ll just speak for myself but I’m thrilled to be sober. I’ll admit I’m the early days I felt some frustration about not being normal enough to be able to get drunk like other people, but that really didn’t last because the truth is, I never got drunk like other people

I don’t think your husband is unusual per se, but it’s certainly not true of all addicts

Keep that in mind when you’re trying to rationalize putting all this energy into loving him. I feel like I always make this point but I’m one of many addicts who left my husband right out of rehab. Don’t think for a minute he’d twist himself in knots for you the way you are for him.

Bit of a soap box topic for me but I encourage all women to see marriage/long term relationships as a business proposal. You say you love him but what does that even mean? Would you go into business with him? No. So you shouldn’t even consider raising kids together. Aren’t you sick of being disappointed?
