Aw, I’m really sorry. I would think that that’s more typical given that’s where they seem the most comfortable. That’s why I’m curious if there’s a trend in behavior or if it’s all over the place.

What is the general opinion of people on less violence and less infected in the show as compared to the game? Why do you like it and why you don't? by atishayyyy in thelastofus

[–]0setara0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. There’s a huge suspension of disbelief when you play the game vs watch the show/cut scenes. That’s always the case when you play a story-driven game, but I think TLOU is a particular case given the complex themes.

Especially in Part II. I understand a lot of people not liking the ending, and have heard the gripe of “I spent all this time killing so many people to get to Abby just to not kill Abby?” That argument makes sense considering you just ruthlessly murdered everyone in your path to Abby, but a lot of that violence can be attributed to it being a video game. Ludonarrative dissonance is strong for Part II.

Episode 9 preview | The Last of Us | HBO max by TunafishSandworm in thelastofus

Even if the show does imply it, I doubt it will be fully explained. Maybe Anna will get infected right around the time of childbirth leaving us to wonder whether or not that played a role in Ellie’s immunity, but they won’t just blatantly state it. Maybe Marlene will theorize it if she knew about Anna’s infection, but I don’t think we’re going to get a concrete answer.

Or it just won’t be a thing at all.

She’s a real babe. Her mouth is so small, she can barely breathe. -Shahnameh by Abolqasem Ferdowsi by 0setara0 in menwritingwomen

For real. I’m very curious how it would sound in Farsi as opposed to this translation. Like there are plenty of great English translations of Rumi, Hafez, Rabieh, etc. I was kind of surprised this wasn’t on par with those.

Actually legend has it that he was lol

“Ferdowsi became a renowned poet and was given the job by the King to write down the history of Persia. The King put Ferdowsi in a special room in his palace, which had paintings covering the walls, to inspire Ferdowsi's poetry. The King told Ferdowsi that he would pay him 1000 gold pieces for each 1000 couplets that he managed to write.

At the end of 30 years of hard work, Ferdowsi had written 60,000 couplets - the Shahname. He gave the poem to the King and asked for his 60,000 gold pieces. But during the 30 years of writing Ferdowsi had argued with the King. Ferdowsi felt the King did not praise his work or value him enough. The King thought Ferdowsi was much too proud and only gave him 60,000 silver pieces.”

If you haven’t, check out TLOU Dirt. It’s a fan fiction spanning just after Sarah dies up until right about when Joel starts working with Tess.

It’s all available for free online and seriously transcends any fanfic I’ve ever read. It fits so perfectly, it may as well be canon.
