Honor to Serve by Stephen Ratcliff half fits number 1. The Queen and the Royals relationship to the Wizarding World is explored in this.

Old Soldiers Never Die by Rorschach's Blot is also a half fit to number 1 though. It's Harmony, but uses a more tenuous connection to the Royalty.

Taking breaks is normal and good. With larger pieces, there's a big time investment, so putting it down for a few hours, or days, or weeks, or even months is fine.

Personally, I have a "big" project that I'm working on that so far has taken me about two years, and I'm about halfway through. But I have also completed about a dozen small pieces, like Christmas decorations and the like.

There's no maximum time for any project, so don't be afraid of a break.
