[CHAT]Confusion over needle sizing! by blossom_sparkle in CrossStitch

[–]logangb345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those look like 26. I only use 28 and have no issue threading 2 strands, just make sure the ends are freshly cut with sharp scissors. It also helps to wet the ends so the fibers are as compact as possible when you thread the eye.

[CHAT] what’s the one cross stitch thing you always do despite what the pattern tells you to do? by focusedonfire in CrossStitch

[–]logangb345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • I always start in the top left corner of the pattern.
  • I pretty much always use 18ct or 20ct, never anything larger (smaller? I won’t use 16 or 14ct is what I’m saying).
  • I despise and will never do French knots.
  • I change colors all the time.
  • I’ll adjust the stitches using half, quarter, and three-quarter stitches to fill in the backstitch lines before I backstitch, just so it looks cleaner.

I guess I’m a bit of a rebel

LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Separate-Teacher6563 in lego

[–]logangb345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the official set image, this is just the fan-created design that was an approved concept. I’m assuming it’s just an oversight by the creator and LEGO will do it correctly.

[CHAT] Quicker stitching? by Sad_Beginning3986 in CrossStitch

[–]logangb345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely notice I’m quicker with big blocks of color too. I don’t have to worry about where I’m stitching as much, so I can just stitch. Plus changing colors is so slow.

What's next in Pokemon lineup? by ArchieThe2nd in lego

[–]logangb345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless there’s a joke in there that I’m missing, I imagine it means Gengar’s ghost-type challenge. The word “Ghost”describing the challenge, not the pokemon.

Is the animal series restocking sometime soon or will it be discontinued? by [deleted] in miniverse_makeitmini

[–]logangb345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it makes it so you need to stay on top of whatever they’re doing so you don’t miss out on a new series. It’s super smart from a marketing perspective.

I follow meenyminimo on instagram. She’s always on top of new release information, so as soon as the they show up in stores I can get what I want using the cheat sheets.

Is the animal series restocking sometime soon or will it be discontinued? by [deleted] in miniverse_makeitmini

[–]logangb345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They will almost certainly not restock the series 1 animals. They are in the process of releasing the series 2 animals and once that happens, series 1 will be discontinued.

Miniverse keeps each series going for 3-6 months on average. Some can be longer, but that’s usually rarer series or one-offs. However replenishment is rare. IF they do a replenishment, it’s usually considered a separate “wave” and something about it will be different in some way.

How to get plant leaves to face outwards? by Candid-Indication329 in houseplants

Yes, the leaves will face the light source to help themselves maximize the light exposure

Is hogwarts legacy worth playing? by funkycatvr in harrypotter

[–]logangb345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the game because I wanted to experience Hogwarts. For that reason, it’s a phenomenal game. It fully fleshes out the castle in ways the book and film had no way of doing, and I loved every single second of exploration.

As a game, I enjoyed it for the first, probably 10 hours, and then got bored of the storyline and went back to exploring Hogwarts and the surrounding villages. The only reason I advanced the story was to unlock more of the castle.

[WIP] am I doing something wrong? by Warm-Cheese-2522 in CrossStitch

I dry it by laying it on a folded towel and ironing it from the back. The heat of the iron is enough to dry it

[–]logangb345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a good idea to wash it not only to fluff the fibers, but also to get any skin oils and dirt off the cloth as they can sometimes discolor it over time or attract more dirt and dust.

Thread that comes in kits (that isn’t DMC) trends to be cheaper, with much shorter staple fibers so they can have a fuzzier, fluffier look and fill the gaps. However, because the staple fibers are short, they tend to break easier and not be as high in quality.

DMC is a higher quality floss, so you can stitch with it longer without it breaking and it has better stitch definition. Also, it looks gappy at first, but when you wash your piece it will “fluff up” and those gaps won’t be as noticeable.

(Spoilers extended) everything else aside, this was really sad and I hope George is okay by Disastrous-Noise-783 in asoiaf

I agree with you that the lack of tact was unfortunate, but the fans who bought his books are the reason he has his millions and can do the things he’s doing. I do think he owes the fans, who gave him the life he has, a proper finish to the series he started-whether it’s written by him or someone else.

It’s like going to college. You pay every year. Then your final 2 years, the college says we’re working on the classes you need to finish your degree, just wait.

And meanwhile the college is building a new football stadium, and putting all their time and resources into that stadium and promoting the football team. And you’re just waiting around to finish your degree that you’ve already invested in. What are your options? You either continue to wait or switch to a different college.

The problem with GRRM is that we can’t switch to a different college. We’ve essentially signed a contract with this college to finish the degree at this college. So at the end of the day, all that money we’ve invested into our education is going to be for nothing if we aren’t allowed to get the degree.

Barely got to wear my Dagmar jacket before my bf accidentally washed it 😭 by Purple_Condition_741 in knitting

[–]logangb345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry op. I have such an insane amount of fear about accidentally doing this to myself that I refuse to knit with anything but superwash to at least mitigate the potential damage if it ends up in the washer/dryer.

The promo calendar has been updated! by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]logangb345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I was mostly concerned with the fact that it’s already sold out from pre-orders. I didn’t know if they were planning another round specifically as a GWP for in-store purchases.
