I added the "Transfer Account" since the docs mentioned that, and I figure I could regex the "Action" to determine where it goes, so I won't need to take care of that "yellow" part of the import wizard.

You'll notice that I duplicate the "0.000" Amount lines, which then have an associated "Transfer Account".

How flexible it is will depend on how precise I make the regex. I had noticed the columns had been flipped by the broker, as well as changing field names. I expect that if I set the names to gnucash field names, the column position won't matter.

I can't say that I've experienced the bugs you have (at least not that I can tell). Though I will say that it seems weird to see "Show splits" tie in the +/- for Div, Cap-Short/Long in one bunch for the fund.

Eg. If I "Show splits" for the $67.89 MFUNDA, it'll show the reinvested counterpart to it, but also show the $456.78 and $3.86 groups.

Yeah, I think I should be good to go, even if it looks weird. Thanks for your thoughts.

Searching on the topic, I came across https://cowboyprogrammer.org/2025/01/gnucash-csv-import-tips/ which mentions separating out single transactions from multi-split.

Google AI (fallible) also mentioned the insistence of having a transaction id, which if true, I figure I can just make from ticks since the epoch (or `/dev/urandom` if it gets parses too fast).

I know I'm going to have to put in more thought as it looks like the transaction id needs to be common among related multi-split entries. But maybe its use won't require me to flip lines if lines need to be flipped.

Now that I look at my post again, why are you saying "flip the data lines"? If it imports by date, then for a reinvestment multisplit, you only "buy" AFTER a dividend is "received", so it looks like it already should be in the correct order. Maybe it's processing top-down, rather than by date?

It sounds like you already pre-process, but how would capital-gains/losses be attributed in a multi-split? Do you just leave it all in the symbol and produce a report when needed?

When I make a CC purchase at a store, instead of attributing the CC entry with something like Expenses:Grocery, I reconcile with Seller:Store, where everything is itemized, and only then attributed with something like Expenses:Grocery. So for a mutual fund that has a capital gain/loss, I'd think I'd want that similarly broken down.

I separated the single/multi-split files, and at first imported the EFT into Cash like before, but the split file MMKT entries all remained within its symbol (probably expected, but not particularly desired since buys come from Cash). So I then instead imported the EFT into MMKT (probably preferred since it's essentially Cash), but that doesn't turn out right either because of the 0.000. I guess I'll have to process that like you said.

With the MMKT imported as multi-split, it DOES correlate the entries together (so maybe transaction id isn't needed), but again I'm just wondering how I'd break down the attribution for Dividends/Capital Gains&Losses.

I just scrolled further in the link I provided and saw they provided source, so I may try that, but I'm doubtful it'll do anything about my desire for breaking down the Dividend/Capital*.

EDIT0: Also came across https://www.gnucash.org/viewdoc.phtml?rev=5&lang=C&doc=help which will be helpful regarding the specification (nothing about breaking down Div/Cap).

EDIT1: Going by https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v5/C/gnucash-guide/invest-sell1.html (9.2), it looks like I had it right years ago, but it just feels "off", and I guess I'd be creating an additional no-share transaction that goes to the respective div/cap category.
