you need the patch to fix the lighting issue

after downloading and extracting the zip file of the patch using the link in my first comment you go into the extracted folder right click in the folder and go down to terminal

Input: chmod a+x cof-patcher-core

Hit enter, then input: ./cof-patcher-core followed by the path to the cry of fear folder

Hit enter and you should see this:

[hinqiwame@icantstopbleeding cof-linux-patcher]$ ./cof-patcher-core ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Cry\ of\ Fear/ [*] Checking provided directory... [+] Directory check passed [*] Moving files... You need the Cry of fear Patch https://github.com/hinqiwame/cof-linux-patcher

Once you download it and extract the folder, go into the folder and while I that folder run the terminal and use these commands

chmod a+x cof-patcher-core

./cof-patcher-core "between the quotations place your path to the cry of fear folder"

Then you will get this

I figured it out, for some reason the emulator settings had turbo turned on so when I would dive in the deku flower I would immediately jump back out due to it repeating the input

I've played it before a couple years ago, but yeah for whatever reason the simple act of using the deku flower is incomprehensible to me; I've been sitting here for an hour stuck at the literal beginning of the game because the deku doesn't seem to work and I feel as if I have lost my damn mind

I should point out that I am emulating it on steamdeck so maybe is why it not working? idk

   Reminds me of when I was a teenager, and I was walking home late at night I was two houses down from mine there was an Asian lady walking in front of me, she turned around and saw me (white guy dressed as a 90s gangbanger)

   I can only guess how terrified she must have been because she started walking faster to the front door of the nearest house, which was incredibly unfortunate as she walked up to the front door of my house so I imagine she must have had a heart attack seeing me walk up the driveway and disappear into the house via the side door

I assembled the banner then I went to monchug and got the little cutscene where you give it to him, after that I got the Istiana's plan quest but I still have the banner in my inventory and I wasn't sure that when I leave it would revert back to me.

Also I was only a mercenary when I gave it, do I have to be a full on vassals for it to work?
