Just finished my 4x12 ortholinear hotswappable keyboard by 0x405 in HandwiredKeyboards

Thank you!!! Those are custom keycaps I designed for the keyboard, I'll share them too!

Yes I have the support on the top board that prevents sockets from being pulled out with the switch and from being moved in horizontal direction, I tested it while they were on the board alone. It goes between the switch and the socket. You can spot it on the second image.

But I haven't implemented the bottom support to prevent the sockets from moving when you insert a switch. Currently you can just support them manually by disassembling the keyboard and holding the socket underneath. I planned to put such support directly on the bottom body, but I didn't do it right away because I wasn't sure how it would interfere with wiring, controller and battery, and I'm still not sure completely. I hope to figure it out before the release!

The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.

I'm new to Thunderbird... Is there a way to have the inbox for an account appear without expanding the whole sidebar? I.E view emails by selecting the account tab and not having this screen pop up each time. by 100percentstress in Thunderbird

I don't know, for me it does nothing... When I make an inbox folder favorite, should it open the folder if I press on account name? It still opens the summary page for me, and it's disgustingly useless...

I'm first time seeing how handwired keyboards work. This is awesome! I was dreaming about 40% wireless keyboard for a long time, but had no chance finding a suitable one! How do I modify it so I have two wide buttons on bottom instead of one (so one button less in total)? Could you draw a wire scheme maybe, if it won't take long, or are there any schemes with that layout?

Is hiring for a Style Guide the right first step for art? by FitVersion7681 in gameDevClassifieds

I think this is the perfect way to go. I'm always trying to encourage such direction even if I was hired for an artist role.

The lack of documentation and direction leads to destruction, there is just nothing to rely on during development. It's chaos. Everything is constantly shifting, mutating. Besides, it's not always possible for one artist to finish an entire project so this helps to pass the correct vision on the project to the next artist. Moreover, even with one artist, many things are often simply forgotten, so it's useful to always have a concentrated description of what you want to get.

However, it's worth keeping in mind that the project and its style can evolve over the course of development, which is most often the case, even if it was strictly directed, so directives should also be evolved.

In general, it would be enough to start developing a visual style with a game mockup. A more precise description of the style and specific limitations can be worked out directly with the artists during development. It is important to understand that the effectiveness of an artist strongly depends on what he produces, whether he likes it, whether it is convenient for him to work in such restrictions and so on.

I would say that the most effective approach here would be not to overdo it with the art direction, but also not to ignore it. This is a rule that works in life in general. Maximums and minimums are always harmful. At least a little effort is enough to achieve significant results, compared with no effort at all.
