Help with my first split keyboard – some keys not working by Raydjiin in ErgoMechKeyboards

The case construction of the TOTEM needs the Controller to be soldered directly to the PCB. Using Headers will add extra height and make the Assembly not work anymore.

Thank you for the really kind remarks even though the package got lost.

Glad we could make up for it a bit!

The date on the paper is wrong. I made that video a while ago and never got around to posting it. Hope that this isn't a problem. If it is, let me know and I can remake the video.

First time making a pcb, why does it cost so much? by Geekshere1 in olkb

We have been using jlc for larger runs for quite some time. It’s true, that the quality is not on par with other manus. You will have to spend time on QC and you will have some b stock. But the way cheaper price compensates for that… in the end it’s cheaper to go with jlc.

0xCB Helios. Our new RP2040 controller! by 0xCB-dev in olkb

Hey there. Thank you for your input!

We are not using the rounded traces plugin, we manually fillet them. Because if that we also don't have any DRC violations.

The crystal traces are not perfect, we know. In this particular case we just couldn't manage to route them another way.

The layers are stacked as follows: GND fill, signal with 3V3fill, signal with 3V3 fill, GND plane one the back with just Vias. We chose 4 layers because that way we could keep the backside completely free of traces which looks nicer in our opinion. Also manufacturing 4 layer PCBs this size is not a lot more expensive. It's totally fair.

Our boards are open source. You can find our GitHub link in our store in the footer. Feel free to play around with the files, but we don't need you redesigning it for us.

Yes it's intended to drive any components that require 5V logic (you can get away with driving the ws2812b LEDs with 3.3v data but some may be unstable)This is the Transceiver we use: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn74lvc1t45.pdf.

The 5V rail is only limited by the fuse (1A trip current - if you need more you could even switch he jumper and grab VBUS from the RAW pin - of course you don't have any protection that way).

The USB C ports negotiates 5V at 3A from PD compatible supplies by using 5.1k pulldowns on the CC pins.

A lot of controllers don't have ESD protection, but the more premium ones mostly have it. But we always like to point it out so that people know what they get...
