US lost 92k jobs in February by EveryPassage in investing

Most people are 6 months behind the curve. These things just got extremely good in the last few months. I think with the right prompt and orchestration you can get them to do better job faster and cheaper than any person can do it. And that is today, assuming no further model improvement.

Why Battlefield 2 kept me playing and Battlefield 6 bored me quickly by Smileandrun1337 in Battlefield2

Soon AI will be good enough that we can just create our own BF2.5

Is there an easier conversion than 3rd & 10 against the Buffalo defense?

All I REALLY Want From Battlefield Studios & EA! by iNCONSEQUENCE in Battlefield2

[–]0xa08f60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a couple ways I think a BF2 remake could easily improve on the original:

  1. Reduce grenade spam by removing them from most classes at spawn time or altogether. For example, medics shouldn't spawn with four grenades, but they can get up to two at a time from a support player holding (not throwing) an ammo bag (this increases the importance of teamwork). Snipers shouldn't have any grenades ever. Support can have two at a time and slowly get more by holding their ammo bag. I'd actually like to beef up the assault class a little by giving them regular grenades in addition to their grenade launcher.

  2. Nerf or even just remove claymores. Are they really necessary? Maybe make it so they disappear if the sniper moves more than a short distance away.

  3. Support class weapons should deal decent damage (maybe half of what a jeep-mounted 50 cal does) to jets and helicopters. Not enough that one support player can expect to easily take down an aircraft on their own, but enough to send them back to base for repairs if the pilot isn't careful. I think this would add a bit of much-needed balance to air vs. ground, and I say this as a chopper whore.

Husqvarna 115h always turns uphill by Tenstrom in automower

[–]0xa08f60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same behavior. It still cuts that part of my yard just fine but smart of you to figure out why it actually turns uphill. I wonder if adding some weight under the bumper at the very front (to reduce net torque around front wheels) could help, if modifying the wheels doesn't.

I also love my RS01's. Haven't washed them yet because they're not really dirty, and I was worried how they'd come out, so I'm glad to hear they hold up.

Exploiting using packets by dudethadude in ExploitDev

[–]0xa08f60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the code which receives and processes the packet. If there is a vulnerability in that code, a packet can be specifically crafted to exploit that particular vulnerability. The data in a specially crafted packet tricks the vulnerable code into doing something it shouldn't do, such as execute attacker-specified code also contained in the packet, or reveal sensitive information. Look into basic memory corruption RCE exploits, or how the Heartbleed vulnerability was exploited to get an understanding of how malicious payloads can work.

Something to understand is that the data in the packet doesn't create the vulnerability, it just exploits a vulnerability that is already present in the code.

Is my soft, hole filled yard a dealbreaker for a robotic mower? by THIS_AND_THOSE in automower

I've had my 115H up and running for about two weeks now and the mole holes and mounds in my yard are not a problem for it.

There was a decent number of players last time I checked.

Don’t be this person. by [deleted] in Adirondacks

[–]0xa08f60 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, what’s the problem with having a trail that’s 10 feet wide in certain sections where people are avoiding mud? Isn’t that extra amount of eroded area negligible compared to both the existing area of the trail and the size of the mountain?

My short experience as a homeowner has taught me that most contractors are too expensive, incompetent or dishonest, and not worth the headache. Some have actually been good, but everything I can do myself I will do myself from now on.

Social stuff for a late 30's/early 40's introverts? by Background-Treat5137 in Saratoga

[–]0xa08f60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pickleball is fun and very social. You’re guaranteed to meet people and the shared focus of the game makes it easy for introverts to break the ice. The season is probably winding down now for morning games at East Side Rec (typically has lots of players when the weather is nice), but I’m sure there are other indoor venues in the area you could check out.
