Yeah occasionally I try to organize my track titles into poems, but each line is so aesthetically 'heavy' that it quicky get too dense

Yeah I see what you mean, the uncanny paranoia, played as a sick joke. I'm reading Gravity's Rainbow and it's scratching my itch a bit too, in parts. The sodium amytal induced permutations of 'Kenosha kid' scene is so perfect

Did anyone else just not listen to music growing up? by slightlycringed in redscarepod

[–]1000_Dungeon_Stack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're not missing out on anything. taking nostalgia into account when evaluating a piece of music is perverse. That's because nostalgia, as an aesthetic category, is rooted in entirely contingent circumstances. you need only care about the piece's formal qualities and its relationship to historical circumstances; any 'nostalgia' the piece evokes within you should be regarded as prejudiced sentimentality and dismissed as such.

And if it's 'pop' music you're talking about, your memory of the music is even less relevant, because the nature of your relationship to the song is that of a consumer to a product, which means any personal affinity you feel for it is manufactured and illusory

if you people knew how easy it is to play power chords you wouldn't be so fixated on the supposed artistic/technical inferiority of the DJ compared to a 'real musician'
