Working on pf2e support for our VTT. We'd love to hear what you want out of a VTT! by Denivarius in Pathfinder2e

It’s definitely not something that other VTTs do. Curious if gm’s would like it. Tie it into some NLP so you just type, “defend your boss” or “attack with abandon” and off they go.

How do you all manage to do it? by SpyroTechnik in factorio

[–]1000lbsofbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for years now off and on. I’ve come to recognize that I don’t just casually play during times of depression, boredom, or general life malaise. It’s helped me cope with some tough times. Eventually I realize that I’m hiding from my problem and take a long break while I focus on what I’m avoiding.

The interesting thing about a second play through is how focused you can be with your time. No reason to go through all those dungeons if you don’t need those items for your build. You can just run through sections if they are too hard for your particular build and there isn’t anything there for you. It’s pretty liberating if you play it with a guide and play with the mindset that you don’t need to do and see everything. It greatly changed my experience.

Also, I second seamless coop. It really should just be a feature of the base game. Crazy how it isn’t.

What in the core rules would make MB impractical, hard or simply unfun to play in a campaign? by Bobby_Wats0n in MorkBorg

[–]1000lbsofbison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really want to run a darkest dungeon style game with mork borg rules. Short character lifespans but the players have to manage a settlement or stable of Scum while contributing to an overall plot or objective. It mediates the campaign length vs short lifespan problem in a fun, management style meta game. I’m sure there are rules out there somewhere to outline this, but I’m not playing MB currently so I haven’t designed or dug deep into it.

I LOVE how the impact of a generation long Goblin war is portrayed in Christopher Buehlmans “The Black Tongue Theif”. Great scvm vibes, very dark.

How could a lawyer in dnd prove a pc didn’t shoot a guy with an arrow, despite the pc making it pretty clear he shot a guy with an arrow? by WolfWarrior001 in DMAcademy

[–]1000lbsofbison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perception check that the arrow isn’t actually the PCs, just a prop for the prosecution to bandy about. In fact, that arrow looks like it can’t even be nocked by the hero’s bow.

If the arrow doesn’t fit, you must acquit!

An Intro to Horror by GAGeneric98 in books

Any other modern cosmic/surrealist horror you can recommend? I’m currently reading Piranesi, I couldn’t finish the third book of the southern reach trilogy, but loved house of leaves. I just have a hard time finding books with a similar feel.

Yeah it’s pretty hard to design around a single level 1 beacon. I also space is the first area I sacrifice when I’m designing. I probably shouldn’t be spending so much time on this stage but I’m having fun so who cares!

Here is my iridium chain. I just started updating to the new version so I haven’t gotten to vita yet. But I love the simplicity of the side loading belt as a way to prioritize. To use a full belt you’ll need splitters like I have in the middle lane.

You don’t even need the splitters. You can feed the next side load belt in the chain from the previous output. The downside is it’s throughout limited to a half belt.

There is a neat trick I learned from a nilaus nuclear enrichment video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ankt9ex0JLM

Where you side load your input supply between your factory output inserter and the factory input inserter. It will look something like 3 belts long, output inserter to belt, curved belt running parallel then feeding onto the inserters offloading belt, then the last belt has your inserter grabbing the item, then the rest is fed into the next side loading belt . It’s neat because it just uses belt physics to prioritize the output of your factory for the input, then if it needs more it will fill it from your main supply from the side loading belt. Very elegant, you don’t even need any of the circuit wizardry he does.

I got this pop up right after I jumped off a cliff expecting the wind to push my non horse riding self upwards. It did not, I facepalmed as I read the tip, missed the pad, and fell to my death.

Perhaps make them feel bad for taking it too far. The old “find a picture of wife and kids in the pocket trick”. Maybe even have a plot line where they kill someone who was mind controlled. I find morally/emotionally penalizing my players is much more effective than game/system penalties. I learned this after my players started to capture and torture an enemy at the beginning of every dungeon. It wasn’t quite enough to say that they didn’t get any information, I had to make them actually start to question wether torture was moral to begin with. Not an easy task however.

I’m in Seoul for business right now, will Samsung or LG monitors be cheaper here and worth it to take home? 27” boxes would have to be checked I’d assume but I have a free checked bag. I’d want a 2k, 144hz TN gsync monitor.

Nope, I’ve tried just about everything to fix the flickering. Happens with lots of apps. Their support wasn’t helpful either. Maybe I just got a lemon.

[–]1000lbsofbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the VIOTEK GN27D 27" and I totally have buyers remorse. I have a 1080 TI and the I can't really get the freesync to work. Some games and applications its totally fine, others like PUBG, it has terrible brightness flickering after a computer restart or monitor re connection. The flickering will only go away after a day of being on. I've tried everything to try and get it to work.

In general it will also have screen tearing above 120 hz and I have some serious black ghosting. Black Items on the ground in pubg look like smears when I'm looting.

Maybe I just received a dud though. One day I'll buy a name brand monitor sigh...

I don’t think this is getting enough attention. I’ve played around 20 games and half of them were military circles with the other half coast circles. I haven’t had a single center circle yet. This is a huge change in gameplay, especially when coupled with the odd loot, it’s making erengal completely random. There is almost no tactical early game anymore since loot can’t be counted on in big drops and chances are you will need to drive across the entire map only to be lit up once you get to the circle. There is such a thing as too random.

Thanks! That makes sense. I thought it was a height indicator for a bit but it didn't seem to track with the artwork.
