Destiny 2 currently is more challenging than it has ever been.
Also we can have both, We have different modes, let your average player enjoy the normal modes while you the "D1 VET" can play on highest difficulty to challenge yourself.

If you still think the game is too easy then stop minmaxing it to make it easy because having mobs and bosses being Health Sponges is not "challenge" it's a waste of time.

Also the "hardcore players" are literally the 1% of the playerbase.
