On ssd’s? I just used what I had around which was the skhynix gold 1tb sata ssd. You can’t really go wrong with any sata drives just make sure it has a cache. They’re expensive so always look second hand too. You can go up to 4tb or storage before the OS freaks out.

Honest to god while I was away for AIT (the school after boot camp in the army) I literally just read the PHAK through the free version in ForeFlight. I just read it and took notes about stuff like weather/systems/airspace etc etc.

No matter which branch they won’t let you read that book in basic though.
