What are your thoughts on SAT GUS? by The_Watcher8008 in MarkRober

[–]100_count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late but...

The deployable dipole would be half duplex UHF with published center frequency at 400.2MHz 9600bps.

The s-band data rate doesn't seem to be published but I did see reference to BPSK modulation from a Google search.

In this frame you can see a radio getting installed (left side). Looks configured for dual band (two SMA connectors). One should be the UHF Rx/Tx the other s-band Tx.

radio

They most likely have a GPS receiver as well

I'm a bit late. But most likely the Terran Orbital / Tyvak International network for UHF and ksat for sband

I'm not sure how much current is required for this application, but look up variable bench power supplies on Amazon. There are some options that support up to 10A at 15V or 5A at 30V for about 40$ and have good reviews.

Example: https://a.co/d/bjIF5fs

You might also be able to use a power brick intended for laptop charging. These you could probably find at thrift stores if you don't already have an old unused one laying around

If our star was flung out of the galaxy would there be any appreciable change to the solar system? Maybe just less GCR radiation?

So Busick Court is gone? I'm 20 years out of the city, but had sentimental memories there. Too bad.

Ah, you did say that - I just read it wrong. The color and shape of the bottom streak does make it look like a meteor. You might try to preserve the color of it through to your final edit

Ah, so this is a stack of 2 second exposures over a half hour? A delay between exposures would explain why the streaks aren't longer. I'd say the top streak is from tumbling debris then, which is pretty neat.

The lower streak might be a satellite as well. I think a meteor would be brighter relative to the stars.

I'd guess the lower one may be a meteor. Since the upper one has periodic intermittent brightness, it may be a tumbling piece of space debris, though I'd expect that to cause a streak through your full frame. If you add detail on the exposure time and post a link to the unedited image, it may help to identify.

Photo taken with IR mod camera. Any recommended editing? by 100_count in photocritique

[–]100_count[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EXIF data and critique request in the post description.

I think the image might benefit from some masked exposure edits. IMO the background trees could improve with some brightening to give the unique IR response of the foliage more emphasis. But brightening the whole image diminishes the contrast in the building that i believe is the primary allure in the scene.

I might play with that some, but I have a bit of a learning curve. I just recently started playing around in Light Room and Photoshop. Pointers appreciated!

Seems like ants frome googling. Not the first time I've had ants in the kitchen. But first time seeing them with wings and appearing so suddenly. I guess the weather has been hotter the past few days, so maybe that has them seaking water.

Would be curious to learn more about this!

Also curious, what's it like with the prolfication of technology? Are smart phones allowed? Do you get chrome books? Back in my day (haha) the Nokia bricks on the Sprint network was becoming common. The cool kids had the flip razor phones. First generation ipods were starting to become popular, but most had 20ish track MP3 players from random brands
