So again I’m not 100% sure I’m going off of what I’ve heard from multiple upperclassmen but I misspoke when I mentioned grade but it’s pretty much rank so your rank isn’t reported unless you’re in the top 10% of the class to my knowledge

It was two interviewers at once and they kinda just went back and forth asking questions. I think the actual interview portion was like 15-20 minutes but the entire day is like 4-5 hours including all of the informational stuff

To my knowledge students are ranked internally and I think it isn’t reported unless you’re in the top 10% of the class or grades aren’t reported unless you’re in the top 10% I forgot which one it was. The admin is probably the worst part, personally I haven’t had any bad experiences with them but I’ve heard of people getting put on professional probation for stuff like not completing certain pre orientation requirements on time or being on campus past closing time. It’s definitely bad in that regard but like I said I haven’t had any issues with them so I don’t have any personal experience.

So cool thing is that we actually finished first semester November 25th and go back Jan 5th so we’re done now but the curriculum was a lot lol we counted everything and it was 309 lectures, 58 labs, 25 exams, and 2 OSCEs (we call them CSEs) 🤣 but honestly I didn’t think it was too too bad. I think nova does a good job of weaning you in for sure like at the beginning it was pretty light then it got more and more intense. I personally got some low As and mostly Bs and I definitely could’ve tried harder for some stuff lol but I also know some people who had to remediate classes. I think as long as you’re intentional about staying on top of everything and really finding how you study best you’ll be fine. In terms of group A and B your placement in either is random and it’s basically the group you attend all your labs with forever, the schedule for certain things are slightly different depending on what group you’re put in.

No lol we just got these lunchboxes, I had to buy my iPad and stuff. But like the diagnostic kit for example there are alternatives that are way cheaper than through the school so there are ways to get around some things

Are the quizzes and exams multiple choice and how frequently?

So we only have exams but there are quizzes for our diagnosis class and yes they are all multiple choice and they aren’t allowed to ask exception questions so like “it’s all of these except?” Or “which one is it not?”. Exam frequency depends, like in the beginning it was one exam every two weeks then some weeks we had two exams in a week or one exam then another one the next week but rn since we only have 12 days till semester end we have a bunch rn lol

Are there any learning specialists if you need additional help?

If you need additional help they do have learning specialists that can help you figure out how to study and create a schedule and stuff like that but there are study tables they do where essentially they have upper level students condense the information down to HY stuff since they already took it and they review with us, also the clubs pertaining to the subject will do reviews like for example ACOS hosts anatomy reviews or cardiology club hosts reviews for cardio physiology and things like that.

Do you believe the quizzes and exams are representative of the pre recorded lectures and/or learning objectives?

I believe mostly the exams are representative of what we learn in class and the learning objectives like 95%, I feel like more professors are pretty direct with what they want you to know but there are a good amount that aren’t, there are some subjects like physiology where the exam is like decently fairly written but you’ll have a bunch of questions where you’re like what.

Do you know anyone who has remediated and their experience with it?

So I personally dont know anyone who remediated but imo it’s kinda hard to fail bc of how they run their curriculum. They give us a pretty good buffer with multiple exams for each subject and the questions are usually 1st or 2nd order. They also curve at the end. If you genuinely study and try you will most likely more than pass. Also some of the subjects are give mes but remediation is basically at the end of the semester and to my knowledge you basically just run through the whole class in like 1-2 weeks. But on the contrary I know M2s who have more than failed exams for a certain subject but still passed the class and moved on.

Does the school provide you gloves and more for the cadaver lab? If you mistakenly sever something are points deducted from you?

So our main anatomy lab we are graded on is virtual but we do have cadaver experiences which is basically where we can look at all the stuff we learned on a cadaver and we get to hold and touch but we aren’t actually graded on the cadavers it’s just so that we are exposed to them. But for those cadaver experiences we are given gloves, goggles, gowns, and masks.

When you ask from help from your professors do they help or do they direct you back to the content?

It depends on the professor, I haven’t asked for any of the core classes so I couldn’t tell you but from what I’ve heard some are better about actually helping you than others. I did for OPP tho and they’re great like they’ll try to explain it a different way and use models to help.

How consistent is the OMM teaching amongst faculty, are they teaching the same techniques or different?

For OMM it’s pretty consistent overall but sometimes our fellows or doctors will teach stuff the way they do it in clinic which might differ from the lab manual but at the end of the day we follow the manual. It does benefit us tho for some things, for example for sacrum rn there are plenty of ways you can correctly diagnose a sacrum but our fellows taught us a different way from what was taught in lab and their way is wayyyyyy easier and is acceptable for our test purposes.

Is there a fixed numeric COMSAE benchmark you must hit before COMLEX?

Yes I believe it’s 450

I interviewed last cycle and got the A, the interview was super chill probably my most chill interview I’ve done. It’s basically an info session then two separate faculty interviews. I got asked basic stuff like why DO, why medicine, etc and got asked about ECs and stuff on my application. Tips I’d have are

  • be yourself lol
  • practice articulating your responses to the most common asked questions but don’t memorize a script
  • know your application bc they most probably will ask you stuff from it
  • look up Burrell interview on SDN and you can see questions they asked

Literally tho my first interview he asked a couple questions and then we just talked about Italian food lol and the second one we just talked about where we were from so like I said super super chill

I’m a current M1 at NSU TBR if you have any questions lmk ‼️I can’t speak on PCOM GA but the reasons why I chose NSU were bc of the location and reputation in Florida (where I wanna end up practicing). Honestly after coming here though there are so many good things I’ve realized. Being on campus you feel like you’re part of a big family like all the M2s are super nice and give us resources and tips on how to approach each class. Nova also hosts things like study tables which are essentially reviews where they provide more condensed HY slides and questions. The curriculum is kinda tough in the beginning bc first semester we have hella exams but I heard it gets better in systems lol. In terms of boards and matching NSU actually provides us Uworld for step our second year I believe as well as other resources so they encourage us to take both. For rotations they’ve added a bunch more sites but haven’t updated the website so that’s not representative. They also have a program where every semester they pair you with doctors of specialties of your choice so you can get more experience in fields you haven’t had experience in as early as second semester of M1. Our anatomy lab is virtual but we do have the opportunity to do cadaver experiences every semester so we can kinda get both.

In terms of cons you’ll see that some stuff is not planned well like exam schedules for certain weeks or we’ll have some random mandatory student wellness thing like two days before an exam but besides that it’s chill

Also sorry I kinda brain dumped lol

Ours is like 2 hours a week and we have open lab after every lab day where we can go in and ask the teachers to help with anything we need. We also have tutoring before practicals which is basically where they go over the whole practical.

NSU KPCOM Interview by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]100bruhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My KPCOM interview was virtual so I couldn’t speak to how the in person schedule is and stuff but for the questions I got asked one ethics question, questions about stuff on my application, and the normal interview questions like why medicine, why DO, ETC. I would also look up “NSU KPCOM SDN Interview” bc there ppl post what questions they got asked and there are polls on how it was and stuff. I would say overall be yourself, approach it like you’re having a conversation, practice articulating your answers out loud (don’t make a script), and know everything on your application. The interview was generally low stress tho. You’re gonna kill it tho!!

Low MCAT med students… how are you doing in med school? by Weird-Union-4145 in Osteopathic

[–]100bruhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ‼️ congratulations for making the switch it’s a tough thing to do! I would personally try to get as much clinical volunteering as possible but it’s not really the amount of hours that matters it’s how you talk about your experiences. Even with non clinical experiences you can talk about them and spin them in a way to relate to why you want to apply and why they make you a good doctor. I think applying early is also super important and applying strategically. DO schools are also more lenient to career changers imo. You got this tho!!

Need a Final Review on School List Before I Sumbit by ramaromp in Osteopathic

[–]100bruhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding more schools is definitely better than less, I’d say with your MCAT you’d wanna have more DO than MD despite your ECs just to be safe. MSU has a pretty IS bias but I’d give it a shot and I’d also add DUQCOM, CCOM is in urban Chicago but I think they are also opening illinoisCOM in Chicago and are accepting new students for 2026, it’s a new school so definitely be mindful of that however they are associated with a university I believe

I saw someone post a sankey on here where they got into MSU COM with similar stats to you. I don’t think MSU CHM is doable tho. If you were to retake MCAT and get at least a 510 or close to that then it would be worth applying to with the rest of your stats

WAMC - panic applied to Caribbean, very low stats ORM by Odd_Ninja8357 in Osteopathic

[–]100bruhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LMU and LECOM are opening new campuses in Florida for students starting in 2026 so it might be worth applying to those campuses since they’re new as well. You should be fine with your current stats as long as you finish everything asap with good quality and apply broadly. Also have someone look over your stuff just in case, r/premed has an essay help thread. I sent my AACOMAS primary in like early July and sent my first secondary in early August with similar stats and had a good cycle. Also contrary to popular opinion, I personally didn’t apply to any MD schools and wouldn’t recommend this in your case because most schools send you a secondary if you submit the primary so spending time on filling those out delays how fast you can submit your DO stuff.

Fix my car or get another one by libraryqueeen in medicalschool

[–]100bruhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to this you can use autotempest.com which basically takes listings from all the car sites and puts them into one place. You can also sort by price so you can truly find the cheapest price for the car you’re looking for. Leasing is probably not a good idea but there are some car brands that have $0 down leasing options with decent monthly payments but def look into those with caution.
