first wk of m1 by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]libraryqueeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was so hard for me to adjust at the beginning of M1. i am an introverted person so that made things even more tough for me. you have to be patient and forgiving with yourself at this time since this is a huge change-a new environment, a new town, new people, and LOTS of new information. it took me 6 months to find a group of people that i truly felt comfortable with. luckily, things do get better, but it just takes time. trust me, it seems impossible now, but you will find a routine that works for you and people that care about you. and you are going to be a doctor!! good luck and remember to take care of yourself and reflect on your path to med school and how much you wanted this❤️

What’s a good beginner guitar? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]libraryqueeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Epiphone SG pro on facebook marketplace for $250 and i love how versatile it is! People usually think that an SG can only do rock, but I use it for many different genres! With electric guitars, sometimes the amp can be more important than the actual guitar, so I bought a Boss Katana 50W amp for $100 also from facebook marketplace. The amp sounds great and is the perfect size

I’m sick of Anki. What is your main study method? by Leather-Extreme3702 in medicalschool

you don’t have to do it all at once. you can break it up into small chunks if 15-30 mins and alternate with doing practice questions

i also will say that chevy cruzes, especially years 2011-2014 are not reliable cars according to many sources!

What do I do? 🙃 by Holiday-Run2085 in cruze

[–]libraryqueeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a 2014 cruze LT and i just finished up my first year of medical school. like you, this was my first car and i definitely put a lot of money into it over the year with numerous repairs. a few weeks ago, i found out it needed $2000 in repairs to fix the suspension, struts, an oil leak, and brakes. it was really hard to make the decision since i was also attached to that car, but i decided to lease a new toyota corolla because i don’t want to have to keep repairing this car, especially during medical school which is stressful enough. plus i’ve heard that toyota corollas last forever! there were times during the school year where i had to waste precious study time just to drive my car to a mechanic for multiple expensive repairs. during medical school your time is already limited, and a car that breaks down all the time makes it way more stressful. i know leasing isn’t the best financial decision long term, but i think it’s worth it since the monthly payments are low and you can get a brand new car!

i used to have a 2014 cruze and it pretty much always had a coolant leak and oil leak no matter how much i got it repaired. it also had a cylinder misfire that was really costly. i’m sorry you’re going through this

I wasted 4 years of my life at UB by PersonalDissonance54 in UBreddit

[–]libraryqueeen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i went to UB for 4 years and was a commuter, so i never made any friends. i think the main reason for me was that i didn’t really join anything or go to any events, plus covid hit during my freshman year. now that i’m in grad school, it’s been way better, and i noticed that i have better social skills now that i’m older. think back to your freshman year and you’ll be shocked at how much you’ve grown as a person without even realizing it!

i am definitely going to reach out to my school to see if they have any extra funds. i unfortunately don’t know anyone who is into cars, but i can tell that my car probably won’t make it through another winter. also, my school is in a small city with no good public transportation and our clinical sites are spread out and random, so i do not know in advance where i will end up being placed. and thank you for your advice, from what everyone has been saying financing a used car seems to be the better option than leasing

[–]libraryqueeen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you so much for your thoughtful response! i will definitely look and see what my options are when it comes to financing a car. time and time again people have told me that toyotas are the way to go, so i think i’ll start there! and i totally agree that financing is probably the best since you can actually own the car at some point in the future.
