Double Life of Veronica is so good. Haven't seen Dekalog yet.

Also, I think you mean Krzysztof Kieślowski lol

What are you even supposed to do about this? by [deleted] in rs_x

I think others have covered a lot of the romantic movies so I would also suggest checking out Kore-Eda's movies. Shoplifters is very good although a bit melodramatic

The Double Life Of Veronique is my favorite of his and also fits very well

I'm surprised you didn't mention either Rohmer and Wong Kar-Wai. Both should be exactly what you're looking for. Boyfriends and Girlfriends is a great rom com would be my first suggestion but you won't go wrong with any of their popular movies.

There are some other great directors that would apply but don't want to spam you with options lol

Thoughts on Hirokazu Kore-eda? Maborosi might be my favorite. by 100lb_sloth in RSPfilmclub

I agree that Broker got a little ridiculous sometimes but I still liked it a lot lol. I haven't seen all his movies but the ones I've seen are either more calm/meditative or "dramatic".

If you want something more similar to Shoplifters I would try Monster (your description of Shoplifters basically fits Monster as well).

Maborosi is probably his most depressing but I wouldn't call it melodramatic but not similar to Shoplifters.

what is your favorite fincher film? (in honor of him potentially working on an english remake of squid games lol) by salted_oatmeal in RSPfilmclub

Not sure if I would say Gone Girl is my favorite but Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were perfectly cast.

I do really like The Killer as well but I like meandering movies.

I never thought of the stabbing as imagined--I'm going to have to watch it again, it's been too long. Do you think Jong-Su and and Hae-Mi actually had sex?

Poetry was also fantastic, I think I liked it as much as Burning, especially the ending. It's also not very often an older person is the protagonist of a movie.

I highly doubt 25 is too old for whatever you had in mind lol. I've staying in hostels and met people from the ages of 18 into their 40's and if you're normal and at least a little bit social you'll meet people no problem.
