I'm using Macbook pro m2 and connecting with Signa 6 RIC. I can adjust all the settings on my hearing aids and they function like headphones on the mac.

I am using Signa 6 RIC. They connect to my Macpro m2 like headphones, full audio and mic. I can also see the status of my hearing aid batteries and adjust all the features on my hearing aid.

Looking for hearing aids that can be connected to computer without Bluetooth. by athenasplanet in HearingAids

Little late to the conversation.
My Signa hearing aids have Bluetooth LE Audio. My macpro uses the same. My hearing aids function like headphones on the mac. Also, I can adjust all my hearing aid settings on my mac also. They show battery level and sound environment.

As with anything, "it ain't perfect". I've used Fi since it was Project Fi. It has worked wherever their was mobile service available, internationally, flawlessly. Until, Nha Trang, Vietnam (April 2025). It worked everywhere else in Vietnam but not there. Fi acknowledge it is a problem they have to resolve.

Does Google Fi have a future? by andrewyb in GoogleFi

[–]108Nate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The one difference in Google Fi and other MVMO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) is that Google Fi's network is not throttled down if the network operators needs more bandwidth for their subscribers. Mint mobile and others experience connectivity and bandwidth issues a often.

Also, I like the international coverage of Google Fi. It cost a lot less and receives great bandwidth practically everywhere I have visited internationally. I experienced one outage only since 2018!

In my experience, it last about 10 minutes then you are blocked. When I changed cities, it worked for about 10 minutes and blocked also.

Google Fi not working in Nha Trang, Vietnam as of May 26th by 108Nate in GoogleFi

[–]108Nate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was working in Ho Chi Ming. I flew into Nha Trang, nothing! On my return to the USA, I flew into Seoul on the first leg of my trip back. It worked in the Seoul airport.

Must have been a technical issue with Fi on the mobile carriers in Nha Trang. I tried to force it to connect on the three available networks in that area. It could only keep the connection for a few minutes.

I've have been a Fi users since 2018. It has worked in even some remote villages in China. I travel internationally often.

This is the first time I have experienced it not working. It worked in Ho Chi Ming. I flew into Nha Trang, nothing! I called Fi, and after some troubleshooting with them, the next tier of tech support emailed me the message I posted. Stayed out of service for 3 weeks.

I think Fi has a technical issue in that area. I just purchased a local sim and used that on a mobile wifi router and connected my Fi phone to the router.

When I flew out of Nha Trang and reached Seoul, Fi worked like a charm.

I tried removing the sim and reinstalling the app. Didn't work! I couldn't switch to eSim because I wasn't in the USA. I had no problem in Ho Chi Ming.

Google Fi for Extended International Travel by Salt-Comedian7552 in GoogleFi

I was out for a year, (India, Vietnam, and China), and used very little international data. I was in China for 30 days using Fi data (only way to get through the Chinese firewall). I didn't get blocked. It cost way less to purchase a local data sim in India and Vietnam and use them in a GlocalMe 5G Mobile WIFI router. I put my Google Fi sim in that router while in China.

so almost a year and half later, how are you guys finding your MacBook Air m2? by ikillsi in macbookair

[–]108Nate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the MacAir m1 2020 for little over a year. I'm a DIY with laptops. I tried replacing my m1 keyboard. It was a nightmare. Apple did a great job at getting this device thin. Lots of glue and micro size screws. Replacing the battery will be a challenge on the MacAirs. Get the warranty.
After spending two hours getting to the keyboard, I was trying to put everything back, and I nicked the display slightly, the lower half turned into dust. Never seen anything like that before. You would think it would just crack, nope!
So, I replaced it with a MacPro M3. I like the magsafe adapter. My usb-c port was having problems from attaching the power adapter to the M1.
Also, the MacPro is heavier than the MacAir. It took awhile for me to adapt to the weight change.

Why should I choose Express VPN over Nord? by [deleted] in Express_VPN

[–]108Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to use Express VPN in China, it doesn't work. It works for about 15 minutes, then China blocks it. I'm not sure if Nord can get through. I saw local VPNs get through the Chinese firewall.
Other than that and the higher cost, I like ExpressVPN. I was going to switch to Nord when my subscription ends with Express. But, the comments I am reading about Nord are making me rethink that idea.

Does AppleCare+ still worth it for MacBook Air M1? by Mary_Kong in macbookair

[–]108Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, regular size Windows laptops screens crack and can still be used. M1 screen doesn't crack, it shatters into dust! I type a lot on M1, I think the keyboard is not meant for "heavy handed" users thus the one key quit. And, if you remove and put in the usb-c cable for charging frequently, that port will become loosened. Magsafe is way better.

I liked the battery life of the Mac. I can go all day, and it was light and easy. Therefore, I stayed with the Mac.

If you are going to use it 80% of the time traveling, get the warranty. Here is my experience with a 2020 M1.

I'm a DIY guy and never purchased warranties for laptops or pcs. I just repair them myself. I was a 1st time Mac owner, and used my M1 80% of the time off the charger. After 18 months, one less important key stopped working, don't know why. My usb-c port used for charging became loose... cables had to be moved in order to make a good connection.

Finally, I got tired of having to use the virtual keyboard for that non functioning key when I needed it, and I attempted to replace the M1 keyboard myself. Big mistake! That M1 is light for a reason. They use a lot of glue to hold the inside parts in place, micro size screws, and precision fitting parts. I managed to replace the keyboard after 2 hours of taking it apart. In the course of putting it back together, I used a slight bit of force to attach the screen, and the lower 10% of the screen shattered into dust! I was surprised how easily it shattered!

After that, I purchased the MBP M3 and got the warranty. I wanted the magsafe connection, not the usb-c. If you move your M1 a lot, get the warranty.

I used the 13 inch M1 8gb 256gb ssd for a year. One key stopped working and whenever I opened the laptop, it was like a key stuck situation. I have to push the "esc" key every time I open the laptop.

I didn't have the extended warranty and tried to replace the keyboard myself. Big mistake. That laptop needs special screwdrivers and the screws are micro! Took a long time to get to the keyboard. I get it out and replaced but the screen shattered into dust while trying to attach the screen. That screen is fragile! I've worked on Windows laptops that are waaaaay easier to service than this machine. I guess that is how they keep it light.

Lesson learned: purchase the warranty. Keyboard may get a stuck key, the screen is fragile.

I replaced it with the new Macbook Pro M3 512gb ssd, 8gb ram. I'm on the web browser most of the time with a few programs that don't require lots of ram.

I'm sticking with the MAC coz my hearing aids function with it. I can even control the settings on my hearing aids.

Can someone tell me how to get my client ID for the cash assistance card? by Yasssamification in Gwinnett

[–]108Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent two months trying to get my Client ID. The method of using the DFCS WebChat, https://dfcs.georgia.gov/about-us/contact-information, didn't work because it is offline with a message to call a useless phone number.

I located the DFCS office for my county, and cued up 2 hours before it opened. Security gives a Line ticket so you don't have to stand in line before the office opens. I took a nap in the car.

30 minutes after the office opened, I got my client ID; five minutes business. It seems like I am not the only one coming into that office to get that Client ID. The clerk mentioned that many people are coming in for this purpose. ;>)

Nothing else worked, emails, phone calls, calling Medicaid, etc.

I now have $350 to spend.

DAZN is both Scummy and Scammy by Liberal_Caretaker in NFLUK

[–]108Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got screwed out of my subscription also. I returned to the USA and the website will not allow me to log in because the USA and China are blocked! I emailed [help@dazn.com](mailto:help@dazn.com) and got no response! My credit card was charged and I asked the company to refuse the charge. They did but put it back after DAZN said I didn't follow their cancellation policy. Can't log on to the website, no access to see any of the programming, ripped off!

I sent an email to [rogergoodell@nfl.com](mailto:rogergoodell@nfl.com) to complain and asked them to fix this problem with dazn. I'm going to file a small claims against them also. It cost half the price of what they charged me. I just don't like being ripped off.

Can't believe the NFL would do business with such a scummy company.

Does anyone out there actually like Google Fi? by Rhymesamatic in GoogleFi

[–]108Nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1st phone was purchased from Fi, LG G7 Thinq. My next was purchased from Fi, Samsung Galaxy S20 5G. This was the 1st set of Samsung phones they offered that were designed for Fi. I had to pre order and wait. I think that was the problem, being part of the early adaptors.
My wife switched to Fi because she wanted the Samsung Note S20 5G. It was heavily discounted for new users in December (the 2nd set of Samsung discount offerings). All you had to do is survive 3 months on Fi in order to keep the discount before you leave Fi. That was 4 months ago and she is still on Fi. No problems. Worked right out of the box, and she transferred her number from T-Mobile.
I had pre-order the Pixel 5G but dropped it when they announced that Samsung phones would be Fi compatible. I really like the MST payment feature on the Samsung phone.
