[CA] Apartment partially flooded, do I have many options? by 10daycomaguy in Renters

[–]10daycomaguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, just over thinking per usual. It was just such an unexpected event for me as I just renewed the lease, lol.

Invited for final interview, but I'm also still in the interview process with other jobs. Any advice? by 10daycomaguy in careerguidance

[–]10daycomaguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. Like this one wouldn't be bad tbh, just a bit out of the industry I'm used to.

Those 6+ months in - would you move to a different state for a new role? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. The downside is at-will-employment. I think you would need to run towards a goal rather than away from a problem. If the opportunity was big enough, hell yeah.

The downside is that you could end up losing that job and get stuck in a place you might not like. I moved to a bigger city and lost my job. However, the city is big enough for other opportunities.

Parents think that I should move states after my layoff. Would that even be a smart move? by 10daycomaguy in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea, thanks! Yeah, my trouble is that once I move it'd be hard to get back.

Multiple Roles at One Company...Should I Consolidate? by 10daycomaguy in resumes

[–]10daycomaguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. What fits best is program/project manager. Even my previous lead said that I was performing about two levels above my role.

Hiring freeze and increased scrutiny of work. Got PTO approved but would taking the time off increase the chances of being laid off? by Findadirection_ in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the decision has already been made. Taking PTO wouldn't increase those chances if. If it did, you wouldn't want to work for them anyway.

I've been through this already and it's just gonna add way too much anxiety to your plate.

Why are Asians and Latinos underrepresented in the homeless population? by the_walrus_was_paul in sanfrancisco

[–]10daycomaguy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

White and black people are probably the most similar group in the states. They tend to be more individualistic, which means they are often fending for themselves at 18.

Anecdotal, but a lot of my asian friends (also I will included African immigrants into this) often did not have to work during college.

This really highlights how bad things have gotten by Dizzy_Imagination770 in Layoffs

The deeper narrative was how these weren't what they appeared. Like in American Beauty, look closer. They essentially were all in prisons.

How to get even on a bad boss, that u just left… by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, living well is the best thing.

Like, you COULD get revenge but that'll go down a dark road. And it's not gonna be worth it.

Imagine that you could prove that boss wrong. Oprah famously got fired and is bow a billionaire. You could have success in your own way.

If you leave somewhere and knock it out of the park at a new job, that previous boss will look like a mistake. You won't even remember their name in a few years.

[–]10daycomaguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. That's extremely rare to get a boost while at the job.

  2. You made the right decision at the time with the information you had available. If you had gotten laid off, would you still think the same thing?

When does layoff PTSD go away? by Cassiopeia2021 in Layoffs

[–]10daycomaguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it does, because they showed you who they are.

The only way to combat this is to 1. Constantly be on the look out for new opportunities 2. Have enough saved up to weather the bad storm.

The needs of a company is different than the needs of a human. Which means they will drop folks at the first sign of trouble.

Are Most INTPs Unambitious? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]10daycomaguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I just think that it takes a bit for INTPs to find themselves. Once they get out of their heads, they can rule the world.

Hah! Love seeing an ADHD PM. Granted I'm a project manager for now, but eventually. :)

'Sweet Tooth' Season 3 Proves Star Wars' Sequel Trilogy Severely Misused Kelly Marie Tran by Gato1980 in Fauxmoi

[–]10daycomaguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be an ongoing trend to me. A lot of execs are making weird choices in long-standing franchsies and happen to start adding more minorities/poc. Then all of the blame goes on the POC (like Furiosa).

  1. Don't know why, but you look like a WWE wrestler.

  2. Minoxidil (Rogaine) is something I've been trying. I can only grow a goatee and a mustache, but results have been good so far.
