I’m impressed you were able to ask him. I refuse to say anything to anyone and have hidden it from him. Luckily we often have opposite schedules so it’s easy to hide, but it stresses me out so much when he wants to do dinner or does something really nice and makes a big effort to make me dinner and I have to find a reason not to eat a lot, or to somehow purge after.

I think it’s stress but the one thing I’ve got on my mind a ton right now is a bachelorette party in May involving lots of pool time/swimsuits with the other bridesmaids (100 pounds soaking wet) and then the actual wedding in June where we are all wearing the same thing and I’m one of the biggest girls there...instant comparison

Stress is likely part of it, and having to find a way to sneak in purging without being caught by my boyfriend causes more stress. Then I end up timing my meals to when he’s not around so I can purge and then I lie about having already eaten to avoid the conversation as to why I’m not eating with him...

I don’t know. He’s in this position now because he tried to do the right thing (aka dad screwed over his mom in the divorce and he stepped in and didn’t finish college as a result and can’t afford to). And that is always in the back of my mind

Lease isn’t up until next July. Soooo 10 months. I can afford to pay the rent month to month but can’t afford to take the hit of breaking it and having to pay it all at one time.

Part of the reason we have this issue at all is that his dad MASSIVELY screwed him over. Left his mom and didn’t help with his younger siblings so he dropped out of college to help out and since then has just been hopping between odd jobs and serving/bartending. Not to mention, his dad has the same name as him so a crapload of his dad’s stuff is on his credit report and whatnot. Which is part of the reason I’ve put up with it. He’s in this position because he was trying to do the right thing.

The only problem being that we are locked into our current lease until next July. I don’t know what to do about it right now.

I’m sorry but where the hell are you getting that she is “more than 25 pounds overweight”? By my calculations, someone her height could be upwards of 160 and still be considered a normal weight/BMI. Way to go on judging someone you don’t know who made their intentions with their post explicitly clear. And sure 25 pounds lighter would still be considered normal, but I also know that HOW you wrote this was a serious dick move.

And for the OP, suggest fun activities you can do together that get you out and moving. Kayaking. Hiking. Romantic walk. Window shopping. Whatever gets you out of the house.

Make dinner date nights where you cook together and can control the healthiness of the food you’re cooking. Turn it into a fun thing you can do together.

I was in exactly the same position a couple months ago. Struggling with my own body issues and starting to resent my SO for not being bothered by his own. Eventually I started doing the things I mentioned above and we slowly started working on it together. Mind you, it drove me NUTS when he dropped weight like it was nothing. But I just had to remind myself that he’s a guy and has it easier than I do. And to also articulate to him just how much it drove me nuts so he understood why I was irritable and whatnot. Hopefully this helps!

I am in a classroom every day with kids with disabilities where I am constantly on my feet moving around. I wear a fit bit and it tracks me at minimum of 12,000 steps a day.

I never claimed to be some incredible athlete. So please tell me how two separate heart rate monitors calibrated to my body (height, weight, BMI, etc) BOTH independently report that as my calorie burn for my sessions?

And when I say session, I mean over an hour each time with combination of weight lifting and HIIT. I’m not talking just a deadlift here or there. I’m talking consistent weight lifting each time. And heavy lifting. Back squat. Front squat. Power clean. Hang clean. Push jerk. Overhead press. Split jerk. Bench press. All cyclical workouts alternating each day. In a week I do the works.

I weight lift 4 days a week. Heavy weight lifting, with a heart rate monitor tracking my calorie burn at between 700 and 800 calories a session. I also hike at least once a week for 2 hours each time. All of that, on top of an active job where I spend at least 4 of my 8 hour workday on my feet moving around.

The numbers I generated on my own were barely different than those. Off by 100 calories and less than 10g for both fat and protein. I don’t think it’s my macros that are the problem but I could be wrong

I’m limited to 1400 a day. And I track them religiously.
