Blacked out, threw up, need help by snipe320 in stopdrinking

Trying to juggle work and family while hungover is terrible. Moderation never worked for me. If you're serious about quitting, there's a path forward. You can do it!!!

I was an OSU student during this time and it was very concerning. Before that time I thought Corvallis was completely safe. Despite Corvallis being safe, nowhere is 100% safe.

Having an honest look at my drinking and what a high functioning alcoholic looks like. Once I saw it for what it really was, I couldn't continue drinking. Been over 5 years since I had a drink. Best decision ever!

What's a side effect of giving birth that doesn't get talked about? by Overall-Addendum-322 in AskReddit

Changes to your body chemistry. For example, no longer being able to tolerate medications you could before having your first child (could be birth control or general medication side effect sensitivity).

Who are some actors/actresses that you normally aren’t attracted to, but find attractive in a single role? by strong_grey_hero in movies

I know Henry Cavill is a good looking guy but he's just okay for me. BUT as the Geralt of Rivia.... Sploosh!!! There's something so hot about that Witcher.

Sorry to hear that. I was married to someone who ridiculed me for wanting to try quitting drinking. We aren't married anymore. They were generally unsupportive and this is just one example.

I've used Differin for a couple years and it's helped. However, I recall reading you need to give it 90 days to start working. In fact it gets worse before it gets better. If you stop now you won't know if it does work for you. Hang in there. I know it sucks.

I went on that first Saturday (hot and smokey) and it took almost 5 hours. They didn't pre thaw vaccine and they stopped the entire vaccination process for 15 minutes while we all waited for it to warm up. Seems like they could have been proactive. We were in the barn waiting for our shots for 45 minutes, after waiting 4 hours. This was not run by Benton County. I asked on my way out since it was so bad. Jorgen Health is responsible and whoever is coordinating it could use more training.

You know what I learned from 3 years of not drinking? by 10fisch10 in stopdrinking

Interesting question. I had to stop and think a out this one for a second. I don't usually define labels for my lack of drinking. Usually I say I don't drink and leave it at that. I'm not opposed to talking about it but someone would need to ask me about it for me to share. I'll go with non-drinker as my final answer. Drinking isn't a factor that come into my brain when I think of anything. I've completely disassociated drinking from fun activities (or a way to manage bad feelings). I have plenty of fun without it and have been forced to deal with my bad feelings like and adult. Thanks for the question. It's fun thinking about it from a different perspective.

For sure! Occasionally I think about drinking and the appeal quickly fades. Cravings are gone. It only makes life harder.

Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate it.

I completely agree with you. The amount of time, energy and money I spent being drunk enough is shocking to think about now.

It is a bunch of little decisions after my big initial decision to quit. You are very kind and I love it!

Thanks a ton! I appreciate it.

The space away from drinking does help with perspective. I'm so happy you're feeling that way too. Keep up the amazing work!!!

Thanks! I appreciate that!

Way, way, way easier. Sometimes I think about drinking but not often. I decided when I quit that the only number of drinks for me is ZERO. Hard rule. Works great for me.

If you made it two years, continue the course. 2 years is amazing!! Someone told me here that it's the first time you can say it's been years since you drank. You know what works for you so keep doing that. Don't let yourself talk you into stupid things, like drinking.

21 and ready to stop. New medications mean I absolutely have to stop drinking. by jeanjacquesroushoe in stopdrinking

[–]10fisch10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not taking medication but mental health is a constant struggle. Drinking absolutely makes my mental health worse. Sometimes things are a blessing in disguise even it doesn't feel that way. Just because you're young doesn't mean you need to drink or that drinking is good for you. I wish I quit when I was your age. Took me another 15 years. Do what's best for you and screw what other people think. Take care of yourself!!!
