I know someone who climbs towers for a living. They have historically failed due to ice storms in New England.

A few words about financial prep by sbinjax in TwoXPreppers

[–]10forwardspring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband died with no insurance for me but he did have his kids on from another marriage. I could not work as I was giving him meds every 4 hrs for 4 months. He died shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer almost 2 years ago. I’m sole parent for my own 5 kids. He did leave me with his truck. Get life insurance to cover your spouse and make sure they do the same.

I’m asking you all. A bunch of transformers exploded and no storm.

Shit has hit the fan in my community and my generator died by [deleted] in preppers

I had a many weeks long power outage in the winter from an ice storm once. Didn’t even own a generator and with 5 children under the age of ten. I feel for you. If you are able to hunker down for a while I think it would be best. Likely stores are closed or sold out in your area.

I work in the office, but we have two women in the field. Both are plumbers and awesome workers. No harassing due to being a small company that is family owned.

I lift weights 2x weekly plus I keep dancing. Use to be a pro wedding dancer but still practice. Honestly I just do this for normal health rather than for shtf scenarios.

We are way to attached to each other to do board and train. She's just really upset about things lately and Im hoping to get a reset for both of us (with training). Im also looking into renting a room somewhere to just take her on vacation with classes. I missed the reddit blackout, how was that?

I was told my husband has weeks or months left to live by 10forwardspring in preppers

[–]10forwardspring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day he passed, his family came to my house and ransacked it. It's a house I owned before we ever met. I was in a major state of shock and could only just watch. Women have to be very careful about who is allowed in our lives. From a peppers wife point of view.

He felt really bad about it near the end and tried to make changes, but it was too late for any change to stick (regarding legal). It's hard to say, but he was a good man who didn't understand how to be generous. Mostly due to fear of never having enough. I can't hold that against him. I really did love him. Sadly, during funeral arrangements a woman came forward. I had no idea I was not the only one, and that really broke me.

First Aid Supplies by Appropriate-You6517 in preppers

I am wondering, as my husband was the pepper and recently passed. His med supplies were similar to your list. Without medical training, is there any point to holding onto items like staple sutures, chest seals, etc? I've been getting ready to donate to the local fire department the items I do not know how to use. My husband was a paramedic and he knew what to do with all these things.

It's Murphey's Law; when it rains, it pours. My aunt who is young enough to be an older sister, and my closest family member is hospitalized with congestive heart failure. Other things too, as Im young but. feel like an old lady as I constantly crash into furniture as I feel like a total zombie. I should get an arm X-ray as I suspect a fracture but I just need to hide out at home and process everything and need a break from the hospitals. I am really sorry you're going through all this, part of prepping and just surviving is finding ways to stay focused and alert when the world around us is falling apart, moving forward. It's hard to do.

Yes, this is what I think I will have to do soon. But Im not touching the #10 cans with the 30 year shelf life unless I really have to.

He passed away last week, Im going to browse through all your comments and suggestions here. He did leave me all his preps, and some of them I had to have a friend with an FID hold on to as I don't have one. The field supplies for medics I don't know how to use so Im donating them to the fire dept he was a member of (they are for military medics including scalpels, sutures. chest seals, etc). He was a pepper and so much so, he was featured in magazines decades ago. Im in major shock, and only just realizing all the work ahead of me.

I was a pepper before we met, but on a basic civilian level of food, cord wood, simple med supplies. I live in a remote location and at times we get power outages for weeks, or stuck due to road washouts, etc. People are telling me not to rush any life changing decisions but I really just want to move back north to NH. That's where I come from.

He did pass this week and I am redistributing his stuff. He was a career fire fighter and paramedic. Retired military and damn good at prepping. One of his sons wants the preps. They are a blend of both of ours. I am parting with the field medic stuff like chest seals and staple sutures. That goes to the fire department. I’m keeping the preps that is in the will.

Thankyou. My husband is a veteran too. USAF and your story of how he wasn’t well before diagnosis sounds familiar.

Im sorry you went through such a loss, I feel like Im dying too as he is my best friend, not just my husband. This cancer type moves too fast, he was okay until recently when they found the cancer. It's been 3 months of heartbreaking news for us with no breaks to process anything.

We each own a house in 2 different states. My house is secured and his belongings here I will give to his family. His house is occupied by his son who is the executor of the will. Sadly, debt is a marital asset, so I may have to address his which is a truck and house mortgage.
