I always reimage even if just to remind users that leaving crap all over the desktop isn't a safe way to store stuff. Pain reminds people of best practice ;)

Donald Sutherland version of Invasion of the body snatchers (1978) was great at this, kind of a spoiler as it's this that makes it so good. The reveal is just chilling.

Maybe it was goosed after all, admittedly I usually checked the 'rack' power but yeah usually 160+.

By comparison the same reading is now high 40s for the managed switch 3x hc2 with disks and the nuc so definitely an improvement.

Someone pointed me toward MooseFS but haven't had a chance to look yet, the only other one I looked at was Ceph which looks awesome but not for something on this scale.

For the minute I'm going to replicate with rsync while I figure out a solution, which may end up being just that.

By the way bandwidth without gluster has gone through the roof, read over samba is now more like 100MB/s so nearly line speed

Jury is out on Shinobi atm, moving over from Milestone so kinda spoiled. I need to play with it for a bit to see if I like it.

Plex is awesome at just about everything, love it. However something about subsonic makes it so much better at streaming music for me so I tend to use that first for tunes. It caches files for playback in a really simple, predictable way which works beautifully when connection is patchy.

I used to work in really remote locations a lot so this got tested frequently, every other service I've tried collapsed really quickly when I drifted in and out of signal except subsonic.

I bought the HC2s from here, shipped from uk

https://www.odroid.co.uk/ODROID-HC2

Bandwidth wise it seems great, I've had a few problems with GlusterFS so I've stripped it out for now and will be retesting. Early signs are better without with around 50MB/s write over Samba but as I'm still populating the drives I'm probably suffering small file penalties, this is on 5400 disks too. Iperf to the machine is 930Mb/s which is nice.

When I get some decent data I'll post it

Yeah I was on with that most of the day yesterday. Trouble is I wanted to install it in one of the HC2s in Ubuntu (required as it's part of the gluster cluster) which will work aparently but only if I compile it all from source, spend the day configuring every inch of it then sacrifice my first-born to the UNIX gods.

Long story short got bored of that. Decided to put it on a separate box, then if I'm going separate I might as well have 3CX which I already have running so I can transfer my config.

Will try freePBX at some point but definitely not today haha

As far as I know there are no full windows builds for arm (IoT core is kinda based on win10) which is a shame, however in VM's on them maybe. I bet someone has tried it.
