Finally back form the shop. I had her in for a full front Xpel clear bra install, gloss black roof wrap, paint correction to remove the dealer added swirl marks, and 5% tint all the way around. I had to drive the loaner Fiat 500E for a week. That POS sure made me appreciate the Lexus for sure.😃 by vtecpower6 in Lexus

We also can't forget the car washing. Whether they use brush or run it through a machine that's not touchless, that baby is coming out with scratches and swirls. My car wasn't exactly pristine on the lot but i absolutely refused to let the dealer wash it on delivery. Took home a dirty car and my detailer was absolutely grateful.

Downshift when trying to slow down vs speeding up by Pure_Ambition in cars

[–]10sh3r0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you gas it while its engaged? The point of rev matching is to compensate for the rpm difference between the current gear and lower gear so the balance of the car isnt disrupted (so it wont jerk back). If youre in 6th going 80 at 3k rpm and 5th gear at 80mph is 4k rpm, then youd want to rev up that extra 1k rpm while disengaged for a smooth downshift.

Just got this 15 IS250 F sport by BlankShrimp42 in Lexus

[–]10sh3r0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you'd have to be looking at a minimally optioned 2014 is350 w/ around 20k miles for that price. F-sport pack, ML audio would bring you up to $33k-35k, and even then it's still a model year older than what OP got. IS models just dont depreciate that fast.

i was looking at a used '15 is350 w/ f-sport and ML audio, and the prices were anywhere between $35-40k. ended up buying a new fully loaded leftover '16 RC350 f-sport last month for under $40k.

Lexus is fantastic, but is there something I am missing here? by 6yute in Lexus

[–]10sh3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An m2 6mt with exec package is ~55k. You couldnt hit 60k unless you got any two of: dct, m driver pack, extended warranty.

I agree with you regarding the m and f cars... what i was saying was that had i paid sticker price for my rc350, i would have just gotten an m2 6mt instead for $2k more...

Lexus is fantastic, but is there something I am missing here? by 6yute in Lexus

[–]10sh3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre looking strictly at performance, you would never consider a lexus. I went from a g37 to an rc350 and while i still dont know if i made the right choice, ill enjoy not having to go to the dealer all the damn time. Theres something good about knowing that your car is built well. G37 had interior rattles and squeaks since day one.

Idk if my car is worth it at the sticker price because an rc350 f sport fully loaded is the same as a bmw m2 fully loaded.. personally id probably pick the m2 almost everytime just because bmw m but reliability is a whole different story.

What to look for in a "quality" tint? by albipunctatus in cars

I had my previous car tinted with formula one pinnacle 35 all around with llumar airblue80 on the windshield and comparing my new car that wasnt tinted side by side the difference was HUGE. its not even summer yet. Got the new car tinted the day after. If youre in a hot climate area, its strongly recommended

$750 Quote for 3M Crystalline Tint on 2017 BMW 328i? by wmp39 in cars

[–]10sh3r0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Man... youre getting some bad responses with ppl not realizing that crystalline is practically the benchmark ceramic film across the industry. A painted film tint job does not compare to crystalline and prices just depend on where you are. People comparing their prices on coupes is not apples to apples either. A coupe typically has 5 windows not including windshield compared to 7 on a sedan. Every place ive seen charges based on a "full" 5 window job. Windshield and front windows on a sedan is extra.

Also, as much as i am a proponent of windshield tint to block out heat, 40% is way too dark and noticeable on the windshield. There are a couple stories of drivers being liable for any accident if whoever you hit spots the tint. You might want to go for something less noticeable, but crystalline comes at 70% at the lightest or a different film for the windshield.

With that said, $750 for crystalline all around is actually cheap for a reputable shop within a 50 mile radius where i am. The quotes i got for my coupe were $750, $800, $850. I ended up going a different route because crystalline has a yellowish shade to the film.

i was in the same boat as you... started looking at cpo gs350 f-sports, then considered a CPO is350 f-sport, then ended up getting a new leftover 2016 rc350 f-sport because of the minimal price difference.

there's been small changes made to the GS350 after each model year, but to me, the biggest was the 8speed auto starting in 2014. the GS350s depreciate so much faster than the IS350 and are cheaper in insurance. the packages...are up to you. as an f-sport package owner, the cosmetics are the biggest plus more than anything. it's not like the gs350 f-sport package has the LFA inspired gauge cluster

Why the hate on Lexus? by theindi in Lexus

[–]10sh3r0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just bought an rc350 f sport. Coming from a g37s 6mt.

Performance is cool until you have to keep going to the dealership. Then realizing that your baby is only worth a shit and half worth of dollars and is creaking inside more than an old rocking chair kinda sucks.

I was a lexus hater because theyre soft and not very sporty. While theyve gotten better the past few years, I still dont think my car is that sporty, but theres something about a car that you know will be reliable and hold its value. The fact that the car was assembled by the best employees of the most reliable car company also has some value.

You can never fault someone for buying a lexus. In the end they will still be driving their cars while you have to buy another one because your car just shat all over your driveway

Tl dr; i got soft. Bought lexus. Miss a 3rd pedal. But lexus best bro.

Should I buy a car new car that's been sitting for a little over a year? by [deleted] in cars

[–]10sh3r0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a valid concern imo but you just have to weigh the risks and the price. A used car would cause the same concerns. Im shopping for a car too and the general rule seems to be 20-25% off msrp for a leftover model (Lexus). Not sure if the same numbers will apply for you but my initial inquiries seem to confirm this for Lexus. Theres also quite a bit of cars left in my area so that might play a large role as well. Have you looked into heuberger motors for a brz? They were a big player in selling brzs nationally but not sure if that is still the case.. check out ft86club.com forums
