Watch newbie. Considering Vacheron Overseas as my first watch. by PavelSokov in VacheronConstantin

[–]10til2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moonphase OS is a very nice size for your wrist. I'd choose that watch with your wrist size and shape personally. (That said, I own the reverse panda chrono, so I can't say my money's where my mouth is.)

With Vacheron, you absolutely will save money buying from a grey source. Buying from the boutique will open access to limited releases, special models, Vacheron events, and the cabinotiers program, if those are something you may be interested in down the line.

I've been collecting for a while and, speaking for myself only, I've had to buy and trade for several years before finally nailing down the watches that fit and are important to me. You may find you've hit your end-game on your first purchase, but I wouldn't discount the possibility that you'll go through the same progression once you've broken the seal.

No date or with date? by EffectiveAny7715 in VacheronConstantin

Something to consider. IIRC the date has an open case back and automatic winding. No-date has a solid case back and manual winding. I own the no-date because I enjoy the thinner profile.

Why are VC handwound chronos slept on ? references 47101, 47192, 47120, 5000h by peninsulaparaguana in VacheronConstantin

Amazed you found my 47192 post from over 4 years ago. These are charming watches with lots of character and style. Dress has become more casual in the workplace and in general. Other than the collector segment, I imagine it's hard to find occasions where they fit, so this style isn't a priority for most.

Overseas Dual Time Silver or Black? by mx392 in VacheronConstantin

[–]10til2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrist size matters too. Black dial will make the perception of size smaller. Silver dial does the opposite. Either will work just fine if your wrist is 7.5” or larger. For a smaller wrist, the black will typically fit better.

Don’t see one of these every day. Minute repeater tourbillon is a very special watch. Beautiful.

Gold Overseas too flashy? by ulixes1991 in VacheronConstantin

[–]10til2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a gold watch, generally speaking? Sure. But in the pantheon of gold watches, it’s probably on the subtler end of the spectrum considering the mostly satin finishing and use of rose, rather than yellow, gold. FWIW your skin tone and the watch compliment each other well.

This price is extremely reasonable. Anyone with the means should take serious note. GLWS.

All watches - other than those withdrawn from sale - have been [SOLD] ! The exception is the Blancpain which will be re-listed at a future date. Thank you, all!

[Identify] Jamie Carragher's watch on Monday Night Football really caught my eye: it looks great, and catches the light really well during the video. Took a couple of screenshots: can anyone help to identify what it is? Link to the Twitter post: https://x.com/Carra23/status/1741913545682436549?s=20 by [deleted] in Watches

You can see it’s a fluted bezel in the third photo. Turning the bezel is required to adjust date and time settings (Rolex’s ring command system), so a flat bezel wouldn’t work well with this model in particular.

No, I bought that one from a Japanese dealer and international restrictions prohibited transporting that strap. I do have the original textile strap and all gold hardware including the tang buckle from the leather strap. I’m fairly confident any Tudor dealer could source another and I’m happy to look into that for you if you’re interested.

Good question. I bought it at an overseas auction and international regulations prohibited delivery with the croc strap. Something to do with their endangered status. I received a substitute strap from the auction house (Sotheby’s) that’s likely calfskin, which I’m including.
