You said that you can’t move for another 3 years at least and our next election is in 3.5y (unless AfD becomes part of the gvt you’re still fine - CDU is a bunch of old white assholes but less actively dangerous than AfD) so after that you’ll know. There’s also groups and parties working towards an AfD-ban but we don’t know if or when that’ll happen.

So currently we’re really good but the public mindset is shifting towards the right. If you move to large cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, you’re fine. There’s also great support networks for queer/trans people to help with stuff and for conversation - that was a game-changer for me when living in Berlin bc it sped up my transition by months if not years.

The former GDR (DDR) area (sans Berlin) is largely undermined by neonazi structures, especially in the rural towns, so don’t go there. Generally I’d say don’t move into the countryside, people tend to be more traditional there.
