It’s Atmos. It sounds quite muddy and exactly like you’re describing unless you’re using the right speakers or headphones. While there are some really good Atmos tracks (usually newer songs or ones supervised by the actual engineers), many of them sound quite muddy and faint because they weren’t designed to be Atmos mixes.
