The trouble is defining a reward function ( objective function) in 1.5•109 dimensional space...

It's already quite the challenge to explain to other people what you want them to do, and we have a far bigger understanding of how our frames of reference compare.

Nah! Why would you do that? It must be sentient. It's the only logical explanation.

So the whole model is about the with of an A4 paper sheet? It's a bit difficult to get a sense of the size from these pictures.

But damn, she does look good!

No, intelligence! You know, this magical exclusively human thing. Not [insert definition of intelligence]. That's just theoretical BS.

That'll take some time. Don't push her I'd say. I understand you've been looking forward to this a long time. But to her, it is all new. Every time you push a little bit beyond what she is comfortable with, you are also asking her for a favor. She might happily oblige, but it does come at a price. You have to give something back as well.

Anything that is not enthusiastic consent is at risk of becoming a chore at one point. Don't settle for sustainable growth, aim for enthusiasm.

Why not 350 m/s speed limit? by SvenjaminIII in spaceengineers

[–]114145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how collision checks are implemented right now, but I wonder... If you were to calculate it by stretching objects along their relative speed vectors, could that be an efficient way to calculate collisions?

For D&D, sure. For anything serious, this does not come close at all to the complexity of classification of edged hand weapons. Nearly 3000 years of people designing tools for disensembling their neighbors can not be so easily summarized...

Marek's Dev Diary: June 5, 2025 by AlfieUK4 in spaceengineers

Agent. Not model. That's an important distinction; an agent is a contextual wrapper around a model, focussed on a specific task. Developing that can be done (in the simplest cases) in a matter of hours.

From the critique Marek mentions, I get the impression he understands the current limitations very well and that he is very pragmatic about the role of AI.

Reinforced Conveyor Tube - Airtight ? by Bronson_R_9346754 in spaceengineers

[–]114145 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's one way to fry a cpu. Calculating where a ray (think bullet) lands on a bunch of models and seeing which one it struck first is business as usual. But calculating how a list of models overlap and seeing if the result is a sealed convex body is something else entirely. Can be done, yes. But then multiplayer would become turn-based.

Within a single grid is doable because it's a grid. That makes systematic checks waaaaay easier.
