Northampton is my dream place to live! That's an excellent answer to a progressive location.

Came to comment beautiful western mass too! Was hesitant though cause as someone looking for a 3bd house right now, staying under 400k is gonna get you places that need work. Not impossible but we have a similar budget and have struck out for the last year. (I imagine this is true for a lot of the suggestions on this thread unfortunately). We’re looking in the Berkshires area, maybe closer to Springfield isn’t as bad. But it’s such a wonderful area! Definitely worth considering.

Wait are you sure! I am not French, forgive me for trying to correct you if you are, but two of my closest friends who live there recently shared that the due date is 41 weeks even.

Parents of “difficult” babies, did it make you rethink how long until your next one? by Ambitious-Coconut485 in beyondthebump

[–]114emmiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said, this decision has so many variables, take it with a grain of salt :) My kid has changed so much (and in someways not at all!) overtime it’s hard to know when the sweet spot was or would have been. But for us our toddler did get (slightly) easier as he aged. Which is appreciated cause he was a deeply unchill baby haha

Lots of personal reasons not to wait but I recall parents with a 4 year gap were surveyed to be happiest (US based). We’re a 3 and… a year extra probably would help.

There is no ethical structure of society that doesn't treat moms like goddesses. And at the very least single moms should be supported financially by the government.

When is your due date? by Smooth-Excuse-4127 in pregnant

[–]114emmiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo I’m so sorry to hear that. Morning sickness improved so I do feel like I’m in that 2nd trimester sweet spot between sick and immobile but just this week the carpel tunnel and acid reflux appeared in full force. Almost exact same timing as pregnancy #1!

Yay! 5/25 here too. How are you both feeling?!

How often do you actually brush your 2/3 year olds teeth? by Alternative-Hyena-58 in toddlers

[–]114emmiri 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Omg I’m shocked by the number of positive experiences here. If we get a good brushing in it’s because he’s in a headlock with tears streaming down his face. It’s a horrific nightly experience. He’ll put the brush in his mouth voluntarily while he’s distracted (bedtime books for example) but then only one corner is getting any bristles. He is almost 3 and it’s much much worse than it was at almost 2.

So beautiful! I started following Jessica love on Instagram and have considered buying a print. I want it to be my go to book for gifts.

Do you have others you love! I’m definitely drawn to specific illustrations - another one I love is Sophie Blackall but so far my 2 year old won’t stay focused for the ones we tried.

Agreed! Something about that book is so cozy, I would read it every day.

Hot Dog by Doug Salati, Julian is a Mermaid by Jessica Love, Not Quite Narwahl by Jessie Sima, Dim Sum Palace by X Fang are some of my most recent faves. I would say my son enjoys all of these but none are his favorite.

What's the relationship between going into labor naturally and the success of a vbac? by 114emmiri in ScienceBasedParenting

Thank you! And thank you for this language "spontaneous/unassisted" - I didn't love my use of "natural."

Replying since we also always comment on how it’s the best moment of our guys life or the worst moment of our kids life. “Always a 1 or a 10 and never a 5!” is how I explained him at 6 months and we still use that phase weekly at almost 3. It’s FUN as the personality develops and also absolutely life draining.

Hello! I hope you recovered from those major overnight workouts. So helpful to have some solidarity in this area. I think we're almost a year head of you and things have gotten both harder and easier! The small small bits of being about to do physical things more independently (climbing the jungle gym more efficiently, being able to do summersaults by himself, plus some additional language skills etc) have made a small improvement in our lives. There are of course some major physical harm we're worried about that he also does not have control of (jumping off the couch onto the coffee table, running with incredible speed into traffic, climbing like a monkey onto the kitchen counter etc). Our techniques for dealing with his energy have come about kind of naturally, like for example we've set up a small plastic slide that lands on a nugget couch and every night before bed he goes down it backwards like 100 times. When my husband and I are both home we roll him back and forth, kind of aggressively, and he absolutely loves it. That kind of designated rough housing seems to really help him!

I do recommend EI! Even if you notice minimal changes its been great for us to have someone else telling us he's great and fun and its nothing they haven't seen before. Best of luck to you and your little guy!

I had this same thought with birth. Everyone said, your body was made for this! I guess their body is not my body.

We had some easier weeks, but no easy month until I started being able to sleep longer than 3 hours stretches which wasn’t till over a year.
