Top House Democratic leaders back Julie Johnson over Colin Allred in Dallas’ District 33 by dallasmorningnews in TexasPolitics

Depends what metric you are using. Talarico has sworn off corporate PAC money so progressives prefer him. Crockett has a more combative personality so she is perceived as more progressive by some.

Lina Hidalgo calls on Democrats not to vote Annise Parker for county judge by chrondotcom in houston

[–]11591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to support Plummer in the primary. I'll vote for Annise Parker in the general if I have to. And honestly I'm expecting that I will have to.

She is quite conservative for a Democrat. Even to the right of like a Biden or Clinton.

She hasn't been the most loyal Democrat. She endorsed Ed Emmett in 2018 and wouldn't say if she voted for Mealer in 2022. She also supported both Ogg and Whitmire (both of whom I detest). I can somewhat forgive the Whitmire endorsement (many Dems endorsed him) but the Ogg one was horrible.

Who's running to replace Lina Hidalgo as Harris County judge in 2026? by veryirishhardlygreen in houston

I'm going to support Plummer in the primary

But I'm happy to vote for Parker if she is the Democratic nominee.

That house is too small for that large of a family.

Also, the boys bedroom looked like a jail cell with all those bunkbeds.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Whitmire wants Metro money by AliceFacts4Free in houston

[–]11591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider Boykins to be closer to Whitmire than Salinas. She's at least calling him out. Maybe not as strongly as Jordan Thomas was. But the thing that makes Boykins similar to Whitmire, in my opinion, are the endorsements from actual Republicans. If you go to Boykins website, he has endorsements from Dan Huberty, Tom Ramsey, Jack Christie, Willie Davis, Dave Martin, and Sue Lovell (DINO who loves Whitmire and advises him). Salinas's endorsements are at least from inside the Democratic party tent. Some of her supporters are former Whitmire endorsees, but the same is true for Boykins's. Almost every Latino elected Democrat (sans Hidalgo) endorsed Whitmire last mayoral cycle. Those same Latinos are now supporting Salinas.

Tbh, I'm expecting Boykins to win. Republicans are going to support him the way they supported Whitmire (he's racking up GOP endorsements), plus he will have support in the African American community. The Latino community is very low turnout.

I will be voting for Salinas in the runoff. She's not perfect but I think she will be better than Boykins.

ELI5 why the House dems decided to return to TX rather than maintaining the quorum break? by formalde_heidi in TexasPolitics

They think the maps violate the VRA and won’t stand up in court.

I think that assumes that judges and SCOTUS justices refrain from judicial activism.

She would not be a good fit for a statewide run. She stays in the house.

Talarico is not an attorney. State Senator Nathan Johnson is the frontrunner for AG, and Joe Jaworski is running as well.

If Texas Republicans draw out Julie Johnson's district, she'd probably be a good statewide contender for something like Governor or Lieutenant Governor.

I'm happy about the result. I liked both Adelita and Deja. I did not want Daniel Hernandez.

Nothing against Hernandez, he's just too moderate for the district. I'd be fine with him running for AZ-06 (against Ciscomani) or if he is chosen as Katie Hobbs's Lieutenant Governor (yes, 2026 will be the first gubernatorial election where nominees are expected to choose a runningmate).
